The Wii-U is basically catching up to the PS3 and 360, while Mircosoft and Sony work to release the next-gen consoles.  It's the same thing as last time with the Wii.

wasn't the gamecube supposedly more powerful than either ps2 or xbox?

And i give the new consoles 2014 max.

But then 360 and PS3 realized how popular motion stuff was with their audience, now we have to sit through it during their presentations. The WiiU controller looks like it;s going to be a completely different beast. this is something microsoft and sony are going to try and copy.

They made ZombiU look hardcore.

Sony held the PS3 back and waited a long time after the Xbox 360 came out, and than said  "Lol look we made something better " but we all know how that turned out for them.

Didn't the Wii surpase BOTH in sales combined for a really long time?

It was, RE4's gamecube version had notably better graphics than the ps2 version, and nothing that ever came out on the PS2 or Xbox could beat Metroid Prime 2's graphics.

Nintendo's been 2 years ahead of Microsoft and sony for the past two consoles, so I'm assuming the same here. Besides acoridng to a lot of dev's PS3 has a lot of potential they haven't even touched on yet.  I think Sony has enough content to hold until then. Then there's the first and only title for the next ps3 announced for 2015. I think it's called Human element.

I imagine we'll see Wii U for late fall. Then we'll get teasers for 720 and PS4 starting next summer and it'll linger until E3 2015. That's the pattern.

Damn, this E3 has been lame in terms of the big conferences. Why bother with it if next to nothing is unveiled and next to nothing of note is revealed?

Even Nintendo can't do anything of note when they're presumably launching a damn console this year.

What was so impressive about it? I'd rather keep my eyes on the screen when playing and using it as a sniper scope just looked awkward.

They just did an interview where they said the WiiU version of Arkham City has more content than the original version. So there's incentive to get that version.

The thing is Nintendo is the only one that is doing anything new. People complain that games are stale and follow the same formula, the someone attmepts something new and they audience claims it's dumb without even trying it. I like the way the controller interacted in ZombieU and am dying to try it out with the gadgets in Arkham City.

Eh, I'm guessing, aside from the new gameplay styles, it's just the stuff from the GOTY edition they just released maybe last month or this month.  I'm not interested in the Wii-U, but more power to those who are.  After the disappointment of the Wii, I've no desire to get it.  Actually, had I not been given a Wii for Christmas I wouldn't even have it.  The Wii had lots of potential and some good games going for it.  Then everything slowly started to disappear, and the exclusives became multiplatform, especially No More Heroes...and just went downhill from there.
