You know I find it funny when people call Todd a Genius when the only Innovation and only real thing of note about his games are that they are really really big, then again people call David Cage a genius for releasing what is essentially a 3rd rate movie as a video game.

I don't think he's a genius.  All the so-called geniuses are out there making games that aren't any fun to play, or loading them with "features" that I don't care about, and telling me I'm an idiot for not liking them.  As long as he keeps making single player RPGs, I'll take Todd Howard's generic brilliance any day.

I've thoroughly enjoyed every Elder Scrolls game I've played so far - genius or not, that's good enough for me.

As of yet, Assassin's Creed 3, Splinter Cell Blacklist and Watch Dog are holding my interest, particularly the latter. The concept behind Watch Dog is very interesting, and its trailer was cool (obviously inspired by Ron Paul's campaign videos).

AssCreed 3 looks good, but I've never bothered to get too into that franchise. Assassin's Creed 1 was ok when I played it on PC but it got so repetitive. Never bothered with AssCreed 2 since Ubi weighed it down with their crappy DLC and took forever to get it out on PC. I think that DRM is gone now, so maybe I'll try it one day.

Splinter Cell Blacklist looks awful, IMO. Its not Splinter Cell- its not Michael Ironsides, so why are they keeping Sam Fisher around? Retire him and put in a new guy instead of basically retconning Fisher. And the trailer just looked as generic as generic can be. Just another shootbang against generic middle eastern terrorists. Just didn't look like Splinter Cell- and why is Sam wearing the night vision goggles when he's operating in daytime?

Watch Dog looked cool and the Star Wars 1313 game looked good, at least from a purely visual standpoint. Which is nice since 1313 is a next gen game running on PC and I'm skeptical that Watch Dog will come out on 360/PS3 or at least it won't look nearly as good as the demo, which was running on PC too.

The South Park RPG, along with XCOM Enemy Unknown look good though.  And ARMA 3.  I'll just be happy when this generation of consoles dies out though. E3 this year has been incredibly weak with MS and Sony ignoring the fact that their consoles are in their death throes and they'll have new hardware next year. Just in the discrepancy you see in games like Watch Dog or Star Wars 1313 running on PC hardware, it'll be good when new consoles get out, if only for games to actually start trying to push PC hardware again.

If AC1's gameplay bothered you, then AC2 makes it much less repetitive. The downside is the story was weakened. Revelations does both well.

What pissed me off tremendously is that it's not Ironside.
I was introduced to the series via Convinction, I don't know the other games. And I enjoyed its gameplay a lot. So I don't mind it in that regard, Fischer was an uber badass in Convinction.
In terms of story, it will most likely revolve around Megiddo.

My condolences.

I have fond memories of the original Splinter Cell and Chaos Theory's Spies vs Mercenaries multiplayer was amazing. I'll admit to not having played Conviction, but much of what I read about that didn't sound good. The first 3 are way more stealth based, hiding in the shadows, taking out guys silently and in non lethal ways if you want. Not much gunplay. There just aren't that many good stealth games now.

In Convinction, you can be stealthy too if you want, scripped gunfights are very rare. You can kill enemies stealthily and often evade them completely if you want. Heck, there is an achievement that you get if you beat all levels without being detected. You can also play it gun blazing if you want as well.

I am not suggesting its stealth was better than previous games, I don't know. But it's not non-existent.

I don't care what anyone says. They made fun of the wii and wii fit, and it went on to sell more than the ps3 and 360 combined. The WiiU is going to sell like mad. I'm curious what other applications the controller has with other games, but what I saw with Arkham and ZombieU looks promising. I do feel bad for Bioware though, pushing ME3 because their sales are so bad. I mean they're so abysmal that I got a copy for 15. I think that's unheard of with just two months after release.

Yes; 2+ million is sales is really a poor showing; almost equal to that of DAO in less than a year. While Hater's gotta Hate, wonder why they feel the need to alter reality.

This E3 had nothing of note to hold my interest. Even as an Assassin's Creed and Resident Evil fan, the new entries into their franchises do nothing to pique my interest. This whole E3, aside from the weak presentations, was nothing more than men shooting men in the face in brown/dark-palette environments and this love affair with 'grimdark/gritty' reality nonsense.

I hope other titles pop up post-E3 that can hold my interest.

E3 2012: Sony Talks Next Gen - "It's About Being The Best"
"Number one goal is to be the best machine."

The priority for Sony when it comes to the PlayStation 4 is to have the best console on the market, not the first nor the cheapest.

Speaking to Gametrailers, U.S. boss of Sony Computer Entertainment Jack Tretton outlined the company's philosophy regarding the next generation of home consoles.

"We've never been first. We've never been cheapest, " Tretton said. "It's about being the best. If you can build a better machine, and it's going to come out a little bit later, that's better than rushing something to market that's going to run out of gas for the long term.

"Ideally, in a perfect world, you want the best machine that ships first, that's cheapest. But the number one goal is to be the best machine, and that's what we're always focused on."

Tretton's remarks indirectly acknowledge the fact that PlayStation 3 was slow off the mark, being released almost a full year after Microsoft's Xbox 360 with a comparatively high price point.

Over the last few months information has begun to surface on Sony's next generation home console, rumoured to be codenamed PlayStation Orbis. It's been speculated that major publishers have already begun development for the system, with the console slated for a 2013 release.

Are they incorrect? They were at or near the top of a ME3 sales Google search, and had comparisions.

I cannot play FPS, and am poor at most Twitch games, so little ever appears at E3 that pertains to my personal interests. That said, last year it was Skyrim; this year Dawnguard and SWTOR additions that have me looking at 'em closer.

Anyway Nintendo still has its 3DS lineup to show later today. Maybe they'll be able justify a purchase of the thing.

Oh and that fan-made MM trailer was glorious. A WiiU remake would be more exciting than a 3DS remake in light that bare-minimum effort that was OoT3D.

You know both Todd and David are actually quite humble if you've ever seen or read an interview with them. Both realize their games are a niche (though Todd's is very successful) and never take success for granted. Their niches were innovative at one point in time obviously and what they do is always a breath of fresh air in the slew of shooter and action-adventure clones we have to deal with.

They were at the top because they're the only active sales data website, But it has been revealed that their numbers are a loose aproximations.
They're not as unreliable as they used to be, but i still wouldn't trust them.
Wait for NPD(that's the name right?) numbers.

Are these the sales stats published by Gamasutra occasionally? I do not follow such info as a rule; do not care if a game is popular or not, and prefer to purchase based on other crieria.

That's actually good news. The PS3 has better resolution because it's hardware is superior to the Xbox 360. If it means that it will be slightly more expensive than it's predecessor, then that's a good thing. If you look at it from a consumer's point of view, if two machines will receive 85% of the same games, but one has more applications due to it's hard ware and lack of restrictions, then clearly that is the better buy for the consumer.

That being said, if people are smart they'd switch to PC.

I'm assuming he just saw the posts where you were defending Heavy Rain and Beyond using some expletives. Don't see anything remotely recent that would make such a comment relevant. Anyway, it's just a childish comment.
