Just started playing a week ago, still don't have anything really good yet and I still fail about %50 of the time on Silver. I was wondering if you guys could answer a few questions for me.

#1. Is there any shame on being the lowest scorer? When I play Silver I more often than not find myself at the bottom and it makes me feel like I'm not contributing.

#2. Is it best to just buy Premium Spectre Packs?

#3. What are some classes you would recommend? I just got the Phoenix Adept yesterday luckily and I'm having a ton of fun with him, I've always wanted to try a Geth simply because Geth are awesome but I've never been much of a sniper.

Just any general tips and tricks would be fine, if you want to recommend a build to me based on my manifest that would also be great.

1) No. Score doesn't matter.

2) No. Buy Recruit Packs until you've maxed out Uncommon (Silver cards). Then go PSP.

3) Any of them. They're all good, IMHO.

Basic tips? Stick with your teammates. Don't "Rambo revive". Contribute by completing objectives and communicating.

1. no
2 start with the cheapest pack, when you max all your commons go to the vet pack, when you gwt all your uncommon go to psp.
3. If you have fun with PA then use it

tips and tricks

Stay with your group
Revive your teamates
Learn what biotic/tech explosions are and what triggers them
Keep your recharge speed low on a non infil
Don't run immediatly to the extraction point
Don't follow the infiltrator around to objectives
Learn the difference between soft and hard cover, and use them

Have fun.

1. Score will get you a bit of extra XP, but it's more important to be a good teammate and complete the mission. Revive teammates, stick together, help complete objectives, and get your full extraction. If you're failing 50% of Silver, build up your characters and learn the game better. You get more from a completed bronze than a failed silver (usually).

2. Depends. Some recommend regular Spectre Packs. Buying a bunch of recruit packs works well to unlock the basic characters and mods, and build up weapons.

3. There is no "best" class. It's all about playstyle and what you find fun. The best thing you can do is think about how you want to play a class, and build it that way. You'll learn how the game works and know how to play the character. That will work better than just pulling supposed "super builds" off the internet.

Play the Geth Engineer if you have unlocked him. Great help for team and you don't have to snipe. Do not worry about your score. I have been playing forever and I very rarely top the scoreboards as I try to concentrate on not dying all the time which hurts my team more if they have to risk reviving me. Concentrate on being aware of your surroundings - that's probably the most important tip to not dying.

Be a team player and you will be fine.

Alrighty, I'll stick with Phoenix Adept and Bronze for now (running around and one hitting everything with Smash is hilariously fun)

I guess I could work my way up the packs and max stuff, I got one of the Rare things I wanted anyway (PA), the only other things I really want are the GE and the Striker looks a lot of fun.

I'll try to play a bit safer and stick with my team, I have a problem where I'll wander off without realizing it and end up dieing. I do know what biotic explosions are, my first two classes were Asari Vanguard and Human Sentinel (unforetunately the only two I managed to promote) so I'm somewhat well versed in them now.

Thanks for the tips guys.

What you are going through dude is something alot of people go through with entering/starting a new multiplayer game that has been out for a while. Its naturally going to look daunting at first but you have to realize that these people who constantly get top score have been playing the game for a while and know what they are doing. Beyond that may I also suggest watching some gameplay vids on youtube as well. If you really want to see how some good players do it watch some solo videos as well.

You also have to kind of go with the flow when it comes to classes and unlocks. If you're dying to play a SI with a Black Widow, well, you could get them in your next pack or it might be three weeks from now. Make the best of what you're given.

I agree with others who say play what is fun for you. In addition, however, you might want to put some time into playing an Infiltrator. It's a class that can make a huge difference in doing objectives and reviving teammates. If you don't want to improve your skill with a sniper rifle, a shotgun is the other common choice. Geth Plasma Shotgun has better range than most other shotguns and can easily serve as your only weapon. (It's usually best to carry only one, unless you can get a second one without changing your cooldown.) The Carnifex pistol is another good choice for versatility and decent damage.

Another piece of advice: join a player's group. Playing with randoms can be a frustrating experience. You can click the link in my sig for our group.

I play on Xbox.

@ ohiocat: I actually really like the unlock system in this game, it's like a TCG without spending hundreds of real dollars.

@ Bazoozoo: I think I might join that group.

first of all welcome to the ME3 MP, nice to see some ppl still getting into it

1) no, points doesn't really matter, and to make you feel better youget points so you're contributing
2) i would suggest buy some veteran packs as well, to get the basic equipment (uncommon and maybe some rare stuff)
3) try out everyone and find someone you like playing

another trick try to stick to your team; if someone gets killed/downed look atthe bottom right to see what killed him and don't rush in blindly; practice practice pratice you will get better and most importantly have fun :)

Or a Claymore, if you can reload-cancel and can handle one shot per clip weapons. That's what I use with my Infiltrators.

Now, about your questions.... this sums up what I'd say -

I shouldn't get Veteran packs for the uncommons? I've not once gotten an uncommon in a Recruit pack.

To improve your skills, I'd

1) Play a very squish class, like Drell Adept/any Geth. Lean when to run and when to take cover. Use a like Pistol, like Carnifex or Phanlax.

2) Upgrade your gear before venturing into silver or gold. Either you need very good skill or very good weapon with medicore skill. Play more bronze and play silver from time to time. IMHO just stick with bronze never improves you as a player. Everybody just goes Rambo, don't need to think about cover or whether you are being shot at.

3) Learn about tech burst and biotic explosion is very important. A team that doesn't know how to tech burst/be often will fail silver.

4) Be selective about your silver lobby. If you see a lot of N7 <20 or <40, or people with very weird loadout, like a drell with a heavy sniper and shotgun, avoid that lobby.

5) Play the Salarian/Geth Infiltrator. You only have the human infiltrator (never played one of them) and Quarian unlocked. Play with Widow if you want to improve.

I think for most players silver will become a habit. It's just you have to put time into playing and actually practice it. When I started it I couldn't finish silver to save my life. Now if I have to solo later waves I can sometimes do it.

But the most important thing is, have fun. If you feel like you are not, then ignore all of the advice and play however you like.

Get veteran packs for uncommons. Recruits eventually just give you character cards for humans

like others have said, its best to stick with recruit packs unitl you max out your commons. An Avenger X is actually a pretty decent wespon, even into silver.

You should max out your common weapons in short order(there's only, what 5 of them?) and then can move on to the vet packs.

Yeah, I would stick with Veteran packs, for the most part until you max your Common guns. That should also put your silver weapons about mid-rank by the time that finishes, then you can move to Specter packs. Recruit packs are kind meh.

Do you need someone to play with and show you the ropes? I wouldn't mind helping you out. My GT is same as forum name here, and I'm on right now.

yea the description of the recruit packs says, small chance of getting an uncommon, so for uncommon veteran packs are better

Yeah, I probably should start communicating better. I'm kinda shy so I usually just put myself in a Private Xbox party alone so I don't talk with randoms.

Right.  I think they're saying that you should collect all the common items before buying packs that offer better gear; it may tweak the card generation so it's less likely a common item will come up when you're paying for a more expensive pack.

(I haven't payed enough attention to this myself but that's what I'm guessing from the advice I'm seeing.)
