Is there an active "matchmaker" in the lobby right now?

- we are waiting for many minutes (i had the feeling first, that no one is playing MP any more^^ which is unlikely with the new patch)
- when someone enters our lobby after 10 min. he/she is around our level +/- 10%
- no more "newbie"-players
- so we start as a 2 or 3 grp and (esp. today) only the same players join our running missions
Absolutely annoying, to be honest. I realize that it makes sense in Gold-Games, but bronze? What about helping new players to get through the maps in 13 minutes? (no, i will not add unknown people to my friendlist..)
cheers

Now, I don't know exactly what part of matchmaking they changed, or even if it was intentional... but it's not helpful.
Edit:
I do have to agree that it seems to be trying to match up N7 rankings though. Yesterday we did as I mentioned above, two people joined mid match, on Bronze I might add as my friend just wanted a few quick credits for a PSP, and after the match it turned out both players were just over N7 1000, just like my friend and I.
As this happens more often, and as I personally end up getting thrown in mid match more often, I fail to believe that it's a coincidence. 'Something' is different.

And if you don't want to play with unknown people... maybe try to get to know them?

Today, searching for gold, 5 min - nothing, same at silver. Switching for bronze, 'cos I want to play, not wait endlessly for something - and there are me and 3 guys N7 1500+
And right now I was thrown from bronze search to 10'th wave silver <_< After game ends it's again, same rating as mine.
So I don't know.
Mystery, mystery everywhere.

N7 does not reflect ability, just how often you promote. I only promote when there are guns on offer...after the first four for SP war assets that is.

Aside from the fact that matchmaking based on N7 rating is super dumb (since N7 rating is almost entirely meaningless), it's more annoying when games take longer to fill. Dunno what BW was thinking here, or why we were not told about this. Can't stand when companies include stealth changes.

Everyone automatically gets the maps, the only thing would be new classes and weapons but you don't need the DLC to play with someone who has them to my knowledge.

No it doesn't. Just because I do not promote doesn't mean I can't play properly. If they did change it, it is the most stupid thing they have done yet. And they already 'fixed' the Kishok...Mondamor wrote...

You are right, they did something, now N7 level matter when the game is searching for players to the lobby. I'm high level, it's almost impossible to fill a lobby, I couldn't get even one public slot filled yestarday, when was playing with two more friends.
Whatever they did, broke the game to me. I almost can't play, unless I have 3 friends online and playing, or I try a quick match, which end up in a farming crap lobby.
Whatever you did Bioware, it didn't work!!!! It broke the public lobbies for high N7 rank players!! Pls take it out or make this filter optional!!!! I have no problems playing with low levels, I have a serious problem with empty lobbies...

I don't know how it's possible, but look like they still believe that this N7 ranking system works. N7 level means absolutely nothing, since promoting is optional. N7 ranking means I promote a lot, not that I'm skilled, or that I'm experienced, or anything else. It shouldn't be used as parameter for anything!!!!
Pls Bioware, I like the MP, I don't want to be obligated to abandon it!!!!!

You do actually, I watched a livestream of some commentators trying to play. 1 had Resurgence and anytime they tried to enter the game they were told they didn't have the same version of the game and needed to download the pack.

Agreed, I promoted 4 classes this past weekend and it really uped the N7 ranking that really does not = my level of play.

Despite some people saying they've gotten players with N7 ratings much different than theirs, I'll add my voice to those who feel some kind of matchmaking system was implemented. I'd say the vast majority of random games I've played since the patch have all been filled with people with an N7 rating close to mine. The number of people reporting this issue seems to be large enough that we can safely say it's not a statistical anomaly.

I have a theory: I think it look first for N7 close to yours, then it start to look for any player, but something between it is messed up, so mostly of the times it will just keep searching for N7 close to yours, and won't get out of it, so nobody will enter the lobby considering that you are high rank (which is rare). That would explain why sometimes it skip this filter and find players from any level.
After the DLC/patch I played in a N7 mixed lobby only one time, when I gave up to make my own lobby and tried quick match.

This is my vote. At the moment - without a statement from Bioware that they changed matchmaking I really don't believe that it happened. I think it's just coincidental that you're in lobbies with people of similar N7s.
As more and more casual players install the DLC you'll see lobbies get filled up faster.
Although I would be curious to see a response from someone who hasn't installed the DLC yet - do you notice any changes in matchmaking? [Most people that frequent these forums have already downloaded it though.. yes, I know]

sounds true. just a few minutes ago after 3 rounds of a 2-man-army^^ we were joined by two 100-200s.
the N7/playerskill thing
We just hit the "1000" yesterday. And yes i know that the N7s are no scale for Skill
But for BW its the only tool to messure "how experienced a player is". Remember: Experience=/skill
Edit: Another friend of mine had the problem, that he couldnt join ("another version") without the patch(!). It should have autopatched the game, but it seemed it hadnt (like in my game-had to manually patch it via Origin). Im talking about 1.03 not the DLC...
Cheers

Either the player base is way down, the DLC has split the userbase or something else is up.
Was there a mandatory update for people who haven't installed the DLC? A lot of multiplayer games will force you to patch to at least have the character/gun models for everyone else, even if you don't have the maps. But I didn't notice anything like that.

It's impossible. So only high levels installed the DLC? Because it can't be a coincidence, is a drastic chance in the number of high levels that show up,
