Like most that spend real money I dont have alot of time to play. So when I do play I want to be able to play what I want with what I want. If my chances to get those items I want are increased by me spending real money then I do. I have spent about $100 extra bucks so far on MS points but that has been since release. It my entertainment expense. Yea it non tangible pixelated goods but you know what if I i spent it on food or drink I would only enjoy those once as opposed to enjoying it every time I play the game.
Do you guys spend real money on store items?

I see in this way (for me)
1) one hour of my job will give me roughly 80 bucks, ergo about 24 PSP.
2) if I farm it will take me 6-7 hours to complete for 24 PSP.
3) time is more valuable for me than money
4) Yes, I occasionally toss 79 bucks for 24 PSP.
^this.
i haven't purchased a lot, but i agree with the logic.

Nope. I like my free DLC, even if I have to work for it. I want to thank those who do 'buy' the packs, cause if it wasn't for you DLC would have a price on it (probably).
very likely. they have to pay their devs somehow.

Now, the MSP I have spent on this game has been hit-and-miss in the 'good' department. Did hit a double-Ultra-rare PSP though...
*To clarify, I won 16,000 MSP once and spent it over a year...

Ohiocat unfortunately you are right, which is why I try not to encourage it by spending money after buying the game. But since the game is cooperative and has the same purchase options with in game currency, I can live with it.
I don't like it either, but if we want to keep seeing AAA titles from developers, we're pretty much going to have to. Don't blame Bioware or even EA. Blame Farmville, Angry Birds, and MMOs.
do you really believe you need to participate into these "micro transactions", in order for you to be able to get AAA titles?
they make profit, regardless.
other companies, are able to produce "free" dlc, w/o micro transactions, and still produce AAA titles.
on topic/ i did spend some leftover points i had, not that much, but i will not spend any more. i supported this franchise by buying the collectors edition, and that's it.
but the main story was rushed and overall not satisfying enough, and i refuse to "pay" for more weapon upgrades; or main story/ mp dlc. it is just not worth it (atm), no matter the price.

It's not worth spending real money when you don't know what you'll be getting. IMO at least.
This. Only, I can't help myself. I buy and am ashamed to do so. I wouldn't mind paying, if it wasn't for the fact that sometimes you get nothing in return.
Exactly. The main reason not to spend any money on these packs. It is basically a gambling game. And gambling can be addictive for some people.
Besides, isn't the game more challenging / fun with lower tier weapons? I'll see you guys and gals online with me Mantis.

IF they introduced an option to buy specific items for real money (with reasonable price), THEN I would spend some, as I do not have much time to "farm", but have the money to spend.
In other words: I am OK to spend money on game content, but I do not gamble with my money!

A) It's more fun playing with stuff
C) What I get paid at work per hour is much higher than the equivalent cost of packs I would earn per hour from "grinding".
D) I spent about $80 total to purchase ME2 & ME3 (counting DLC), and felt BW deserved a little more than that for all the enjoyment I got out of the games.
I don't think there's anything wrong with spending money on packs in moderation. I just worry about people getting addicted to this type of thing. It would be a nice move if EA/BioWare (and other companies) offered some type of opt out where people could block themselves from engaging in microtransactions.

If they were to tell us that every penny spent on the packs in multiplayer was to go towards the extended cut, how many of you would pay really money for them. I probably would lol.
Haha, this convinced me more than anything else to pay for DLC.
So, no I still haven't yet paid for it. I mean, did you see the ending to the single player? "Buy our DLC" WTF kinda ending is that?
Re; the other arguments;
Time = Money :: This is a good one, except that I mostly enjoy playing the random classes/weapons that I've unlocked. So IDK. I'd like to unlock some specific things, but that's not going to happen with the random unlock system whether or not I spend money, so why not just bank it and retire young to play ME4.
Support more DLC :: Dudes, just release the editors and let the community make maps. They used to do this (some companies still do - Blizzard & SC) and I had more fun making maps than playing them! Plus you get much higher-quality maps, IMO.

I've only bought packs with real money twice: once when it had been quite a while since I had played, and wanted the resources that the Jumbo pack offers to get back in the rhythm; and once during Rebellion's release to (hopefully) get a few of the goodies.
Definitely don't do it regularly, and wouldn't since I think the game-earned currency meets needs just fine for pretty much all players.

I had a few pounds in my paypal account so I bought the minimum amount of BW points to get me something. I think I could afford a premium and regular spectre pack, wasn't anything amazing in either.

However, I do appreciate those that do spend real money on packs. It's the most likely reason as to why we've had two free MP DLCs in a row.
