Anyone on the PC with the patch can attest to this fact:  Lobbies are taking a hell of a lot longer to fill up.

Why?  Matchmaking.  Every time I host a game, without fail, the people who join are within 20 or so N7 levels of me.  And that's if it bothers to fill up at all.

When I create a game with a friend or two, the other people who join will have an N7 level that's just a few ranks away from being the averaged value of my N7 level with those of my friends.

Bioware, this is NOT cool.  It is not beneficial.  Please.  Please.  Get rid of it.

It's not just PC. Xbox and PS3 are experiencing it as well.

And yeah, it would be nice, but it takes forever for those of us with higher N7 ranks to fill a lobby.

I just had a game with a 77 and a 756. I'm not quite 390.

Considering Xbox and the PS3 now both have the patch, it's a moot point now.

I'm not seeing it. I'm getting plenty of matches with people in the 100s, 200,s double digits, 1000s and so on while being N7 689. The matchmaking seems a little slower, though.

I haven't noticed this at all. N7 120 here, been getting into matches fairly quickly and with people of different N7 ratings, from as low as 4 to the 1000s.

N7 only matters when you have less than 120, more or less, because it shows that you have not tried many of the characters or had time to find a decent weapon. Beyond that, it does not mean much if anything.

Maybe a better system would be to lock the difficulty levels until you reach so many extractions on the lower level.

Make note of the N7s that are in the lobby when you join and then do the math to find the average-- you may find that your N7 falls close to that average.

Someone else pointed this out in the other thread. It reminded me that yesterday I joined up with an N7 14 and an N7 410 or so. My N7 is 218.

Xbox here, and the matchmaking surely is showing itself. im a N7 683 atm and only people +/- 20 N7 rank are joining...its really irritating and takes so long.

It's either a new matchmaking system or the multiplayer population has takena drastic hit.
If it's matchmaking it needs to stop.
If it's a population decrease I need to find something else fun to play.

Noticed a problem last night with this, if kept, it needs serious refining.

Fairly sure it's matchmaking. It cannot be coincidental that I see other PC users with N7s above 1000+ complaining about this, which means they're obviously playing, and I haven't come across one of them. If there were a population decrease it'd be easier to find a 1000+ player in a random lobby, in fact I'd probably be stumbling over them over and over. Instead I'm running into the same players over and over around my own level.

I don't think so, it was fine before the patch/dlc.

It could be an intermittent bug, or something they had implemented server side and wisely shut off. I hope that this is the case.

Yeah this is new since the patch, PC users were complaining right when then got it, now everyone's got the patch and everyone's noticing the same thing. Definitely hurt the multiplayer big time, trying to find a decent U/U/G was hard enough before, now it's gotten drastically more obnoxious.

I had no problem with low N7's who were capable, and a lot of higher ups are terrible. This is a very, very bad adjustment, Bioware, please undo it immediately.

My skill isn't 1337 enough to enjoy myself with gold, which I generally find frustrating (and farming boring), but good enough (well, at least my equipment/build is) to carry a couple newbies on the team through silver.  In fact that's my preferred, intermediate, difficulty level: silver with teammates that are constantly getting themselves into trouble.   But by four digit N7 ranks, pretty much everyone knows to not banzai run into a mob and away from the team.
Yes, I actually enjoy the rescue/revive operations.

So the matchmaking isn't terrible merely for long lobby times, its terrible for making silver less challenging for those who simply erred in trying out a lot of different builds.
