EDIT: Wow, some people are saying they are waiting 30min in a lobby. I thought my 5-10 min was bad. 30min is completely unacceptable - sometimes I only have an hour to play.

I really don't see why they'd add this. You can't match people on skill by N7 rating since N7 rating says nothing about skill. Much pain, no gain with this feature...

I see a lot of people have come across the same problem as me. For me, this sucks. My N7 rating is 1130, and I have been playing bronze all morning to gain levels for promotions, and to restock my consumables (which aside from ammo packs are currently empty). And literally, in 8 hours of playing, I have seen the same four people over and over in bronze games. And never more than one at a time. We've been doing two-man bronze runs all day. Which is not hard, but I'd like to have a full team so that we can speed through these games more efficiently.
This similar-level matchmaking must go. If I just want to play bronze and gain levels in my low-level classes, there are no others at my level to join me. I end up soloing up to wave 6 or 7 half the time before it finally matches someone else in. And then they leave after the game because no one else is joining the lobby, only to be matched back in with me on wave 3 or 4 of the following game.
This is a problem, I am afraid to promote my classes. In addaition, as higher rank players are forced to play more bronze games, I feel no challenge at all. This is bad system. My N7 rating is 540, and I already start to play more bronze games.

I emphasize again, give us the option to manually enable or disable the matchmaking system whether if we are hosting or looking for a game if you really want us to use it. Also a quick setting with a +/- value of n7 difference we want in the game would be really nice, but I guess that's too much to hope for.
The system as it is now is horrible and obsolete (for the reasons that others have allready explained before me with which I agree completely) and should thus be either disabled completely or revamped in a way that gives us some freedom over it and make it actually useful. I just don't understand why do you have to force us with so many of your decisions, where many other games provide such choices by default.

Don't play public anymore. Join a player group.
What. Is. Wrong. With. You? You are so blatantly wrong that I can't decide where to begin with you?

Presumably before the game selected a lobby based on which had the best connection.
HA! I've played with people from Russia, Germany, France, and even Australia! It's very common to get paired with people from far away (which roughly correlates with latency), especially when playing at unusual hours.
They were not matchmaking based on connectivity before.

I can confirm this on PS3. Bioware please, if you keep this MP will be dead in a week.
I get this game on PC, this system will kill PC MP in a week.

So, you're not sure if a feature that almost entirely removes the ability for some people to play the game they paid for should be removed just because you're playing with slightly better people? You're a very considerate person.Deucetipher wrote...
I don't know. I kind of like it so far. I'm somewhere around 440, and it makes it easier to find a decent random/random/gold game
I don't know if some people supporting it don't understand how bad it is for people with a higher N7 rank, or if they're just too selfish to care.

I'm playing with the same 6 randoms over and ove again and they don't have mics. The only way to get people to play when you host is to start the match without them. They show up before the 2nd wave ends. If you get people in the lobby, they leave before anyone else shows up.
Why is the game still broken? There is no debating this. IT SUCKS. Turn match making off plz.
Exactly, why talking, act! The game is broken for some of us.

BioWare announced yesterday that they will cancel this matchmaking system, so you can stop - you won, they understood your plight (which was correct, this system WAS terrible).

Oh. What was it based on then? As you say though, distance does not correlate exactly with lag.
Either way I've been experiencing far more lag and glitches since the patch/DLC. I figured this might be why, but maybe not.

You may be right - I did notice a LOT more lag in all of my games last night, with 4 completely different lobbies.Sammuthegreat wrote...

I don't know what criteria they were using before, but it definitely was not connectivity; if it were, I'd probably be connected mostly to people in my region (Midwest US). My guess is that connectivity is a variable in matchmaking, but not a properly prioritized one.Sammuthegreat wrote...

Frequently being dropped into lobbies where people are speaking other languages (not Spanish) and their nametags often end in RUS or DE is a pretty good indicator of this.
Narrowing down the pool of candidates who you can be matched with decreases the odds of having lower-latency squadmates.

There is really no need to make this personal. I was just pointing out my own experience in hopes of engaging in constructive discussion, not mud-flinging. Personal attacks are decidedly unhelpful.
