They are still discussing. I bet the one who suggested that change now claims artistic integrity for it and Dr. Ray Muzyka will write us a letter where he says they can't rollback but will clarify the new system...

I sincerely doubt that will happen now that there's been such a devastating outcry from the community. If in the remote chance they do nothing at all but try to sell the new system, they'll lose many players. I don't think Bioware wants that to happen.

Any word on when they're going to rollback?

I'm not sure if this is correct, but as far as i know, it would take a week or two to get a patch out on the 360. That is if they decide to roll back now.

My N7 rank is low but I have played this game A LOT (as my manifest clearly shows) and I don't like constantly getting matched up with N7 300s using their Avenger VII and Widow II wielding Asari on gold.

The thing that's driving me nuts right now is: I have been getting matched into -the same- group of angry guys shouting in Russian for about 15 minutes now, into their same lobby.

I am giving up and going to go do something else at this stage, but -argh-.

Maybe they dont want high ranking N7 players visible to the newcommers, maybe the marketing guys has some paper that shows that busines i better if the ordinary casual player dont have to worry if they are good enough.

I have to say that I agree the match making seemed like a good idea but it does not work. Perhaps the algorithm needs tweaking. It can now take forever (15-20 min) for a match to start; perhaps you might want to widen the range as the time extends to find team mates extends. Or you could just make it a host option. Actually, the host option would be the best idea.

I support the change back to the old matchmaking system. The N7 rating is not a very good indicator of skill level and the restriction makes it harder for everyone to find a game with a decent host connection. I've met a lot of people whose rating exceeds mine by at least 3,000 and if matchmaking restrictions were in place back then, I would not have such a fun group to play with now.

I guess the next question is whether or not Bioware will allow this change to go through the weekend.

EDIT:  One small note is that the range of levels should be % based.  This would allow a high N7 rank to have a much greater range of available levels as compared to a low N7 rank.  So if the rank was set to +/-40% then a N7 200 would have from 120-280 while that range would be 1,200-2,800 for an N7 2,000.  See how massive the difference is?  I still do not support this change but Bioware went about it entirely wrong.

Seem like Bioware it's full of bad programmers, I don't thing was hard to make a menu in the screen since the beginning where you choose bronze, silver or gold to select matchmaking, join midgame or lobby, range of N7 or something like that -o-

It's frustrating found a new lobby and keep getting in the same with the same player and no one else ¬¬

So I just sat at the "Searching for game" screen for the better part of an hour, searching any enemy map or difficulty, I didn't get into one game. I support a rollback, mainly because I can't test out my shiny new Eagle.

I know I'm a bit late to the party here but I will add my vote to the mix. N7 rank is irrelevant. It just means one person promotes more than another. That's all. It says nothing of skill, nothing of how much gear a person has unlocked, nothing else.

I waited in a lobby for like 25 minutes with 3 people between N7 600 and 800 for a 4th person to join and it never happened. We had one guy join our game over and over and over and he kept leaving as soon as he got in the lobby. No idea why he left, but he might have been looking for FBW/G/G and we were doing U/U/G. We eventually just 3 manned the thing.

So yes, I vote to get rid of this absurd matchmaking system. It's stupid and I have no idea why BioWare even considered implementing it. Any idiot could have told them that at first glance. I like the idea of a hard cap of N7120+ for Gold (and N740-60 for Silver), but what we have now is stupid.

Now the term "Quick Match" is genuinely laughable. Been spending more time recently trying to be placed into a lobby or waiting for it to be filled up.

What does it matter? As soon as you get into a game you'll just lose your connection to the EA servers anyways.

I miss seeing people with a N7 rating in single or double digits. Especially people under 20. It's always nice to see new people join up.

Yes, just signing my name here. Get RID of N7 matchmaking! It does NOT measure skill or time investment or gear upgrades, it only measures how fast someone is promoting characters. I could be N7 2000 by now, if I purely promoted characters, but I prefer to keep my characters L20 so I can just get in a Gold game and enjoy myself. This is one of the worst things to have implemented.

Let me put in another 2 cents to this.

Because of the new matchmaking rules, the odds of you dropping into a game is now significantly higher. Like, 3 out of 4 games I "quick gamed" just now were what I'll call "Drop In Groups" (DIG).

The problem is this. I was goofing around, intending to play Bronze. Bronze build, bronze equipment. Instead I got Silver, Silver, Gold.

You can imagine the frustration. I can handle Silver, but Gold without prep is stupid. Since I was planning to go Bronze, the only thing I brought was Gear, no ammo, armour or weapon boosts.

Bioware: I asked to play Bronze because I like playing Bronze. Now you're telling me because I promoted many to help my SP game, I should be playing Silver or Gold. Not only are you telling me that, 75% of the time you're forcing me to play Silver or Gold. Oei. Not quite correct.

ARGHHHHHH! I give up!! It's taken me two days to earn enough for a PSP because a) I can't get games, B) I get dropped into the wrong games, ones that I'm not set up for, and c) everyone I'm stuck with is TERRIBLE! Yes, sure, leave me to carry the pack BY MYSELF. Every single game has failed except for the bronze ones. Bad players isn't bioware's fault but dropping into wrong games and long waits are.

This has been an absolute pain tonight, I've been playing for 5 hours straight and most games I was either playing by myself or with one other guy, and only once was the lobby filled... Everyone was around level 600, Silver matches were almost impossible to play with others and I didn't bother with Gold.
It's probably worse for me as I always host, way too much lag and connection problems when I join others.
It also doesn't help these individuals don't seem to understand how to Multiplayer, even though they're over N7 600.
Just because a players N7 high doesn't mean they're good, I was playing with a N7 2000 couple days ago on Gold and they were dying every 5 damn seconds, also they didn't seem to understand "biotic detonations/setups"

Bioware, why the hell did you think this was a good idea?

If it's a population decrease I need to find something else fun to play.

I don't think so, it was fine before the patch/dlc.

And why would the population drop DRASTICALLY the very next day when free DLC comes out?

You sure where not on these forums in the release week of the game :D. I just made a sarcastic reference to what happened back than ;).
And trust me, the outcry about the games ending was much bigger than this :D.

Pisses me off. I'm n7 1056, but I still enjoy silver/bronze games most of the time. It makes it really difficult to find any games.

If they do then they need to fire their entire marking division.

Who's brillant idea was it to try and market a "Story Only" mode to attract casual players who have difficulty with highspeed rapid pace gameplay? I like story as much as the next guy but if you're not used to the chaotic gameplay that comes with it then you're really going to be hurting in MP. And since MP is pretty much required to "enhance" the story, guess who's really sucking if they want moar?

This is another reason I don't mind carrying people. These poor casuals have no idea what they're getting into in MP and their only crime was trying to enhance their story. Even Bronze can be overwhelming when you're suddenly scrambling for the nearest cover and there's no way for you to try and take a breather. It's like watching those Army movies where the privates are yelling "I DIDN'T SIGN UP FOR THIS!" and you as the Sergent are yelling back "WELCOME TO THE ARMY PRIVATE!"
