It's either a new matchmaking system or the multiplayer population has takena drastic hit.
If it's matchmaking it needs to stop.
If it's a population decrease I need to find something else fun to play.

It's the first one. I have the patch and either it takes forever to get a R/R/G, I get dummped into a game with any number of different N7 level players, most of which were looking for a Bronze game, and the Lobbies I have entered have been varied.

Their is no match making, and N7 5000 is not going ot have anyone to play with. Higher level Players leveling on Bronze, are going to find a real hard time finding a Match with their 2800 N7.

It's not match making, it's population loss, more players playing in private lobbies, people who still don't have the patch can't play, people who don't have the dlc can't play and EA had a massive world wide server crash. Not everyone is back online yet. Mix all that stuff together and that's what is going on in Pub.

It's NOT population loss.  Last night I could host a lobby and get it filled in minutes.  Consoles got the patch today, and now I can't get ONE person in my lobby in 15 minutes (high N7).

I've NEVER seen a game lose 95% of its population literally over night.

On PC. I got no problems joining games with a rank of about 1500 and N7 ranks are all over the place.

Hosting a game is a lone single player experiance though. If matchmaking is the reason, I say to hell with it!

I'm on PC and have seen plenty of silver/gold lobbies with various ratings from 100 to 3000 (mine is 650).

Waiting 7+ minutes at this very moment for ONE PERSON to join. Why was this unnecessary change made? They really want to **** up the multiplayer of their own game lol.

Haven't noticed, N7 level 148 I think, because what's the point in promoting more than once?

I think that's why most of us with lower ranks are having an easier time with it, because there are more us available to each other.

Indeed. In fact I don't even think I've had to wait 5 minutes to find a match, if it wasn't for these forums I wouldn't have noticed.

It's odd it's like they're punishing people for promoting, despite the fact that promoting means nothing, I have a ton of Gold weapons at level 10 and am usually in the top 2 regardless of the N7 ranks in the match. Seriously, N7 past 120 means nothing, why did they do this?

Not everyone who plays the game has downloaded the DLC yet or doesn't possibly even know about it. That's why the matchmaking has been slower, as if the community got significantly smaller overnight. This is exactly why you should always push your free content out as a patch on the PC. There's absolutely no point in having it as an optional download.

It may have seemed that way last night but I have been seeing this problem for weeks, and people have been posting about it for weeks, so it pre dates the patch.

The DLC is not the issue. XBox and PS3 didn't have this problem until today when the patch for them dropped. PC people noticed this Tuesday on their patch day.

Again, I encourage people to make note of the N7s in each varied lobby and determine the average/mean N7 of the lobby.

That way we could determine if you're really unaffected by this or not.

For example, I got put into a lobby with a level 14 and a level 410. My N7 is 218, which is awfully close to the average of that lobby.

You think cause you had one good lobby night and the next day because you don't 95% of the population is gone? What do you think the game revolves around your lobby? Don't kid yourself if you think the multi population has not declined. Promote 50k characters? That says a lot right there. I have been running into the same lobbies over and over for weeks. I see the same players all the time now. That's pre patch. I have written about it a dozen times. I never said 95% of the population is gone by they way but it has gotten smaller. I'll go do some runs and I will tell you the n7 numbers I see in the lobbies, okay?

No, I think that because from LAUNCH date until LAST NIGHT I could have a lobby fill in minutes, and ONLY after the patch will it take 15+ minutes for a single player to join.

Declined?  Yes.  But I have never had to wait a fraction of this length of time before.  Look at all the other posters having the same issue.

Also, to copy my experiences from the other thread:

Shock n Awe wrote...

I subscribe to this.  XBox, just got the patch today, and hosting matches with my friend takes FOREVER to find people now.

Here's the kicker: My friend is N7 120, I'm N7 1969.  The average of these is 1044.5.

The two players who - after 10 minutes - joined us?  1044 and 1045.

Shock n Awe wrote...

Update:

Both the 1044 and 1045 left after that game. 6 new people cycled through, every single one of them was N7 1064 or 1065. Every one of the 6 players.

There is no way this is a coincidence.

I am ~330. I had a several lobbies today with N7s within 10 of mine (most or them). One had 330/330/329/326. Never seen that before. If I can figure out how to takescreenshots I will....

I haven't noticed this at all. N7 120 here, been getting into matches fairly quickly and with people of different N7 ratings, from as low as 4 to the 1000s.

The quick match work sometimes, the biggest problem is if you try to create a lobby, nobody will join, if they do, they will have a level close to yours. It's a real problem for high levels, since people with high level are far more rare...

I don't use quick match. I nearly always host.

Yeah, I'm experiencing the within ~10 N7 levels thing too. For most of my lobbies, at least. When you see those, you know something's up.

The varied ones are the ones that are deceiving -- you glance at them and say, "Oh, high N7 levels! And low ones! There's no weird matchmaking afterall, huh? Okay." When really, it seems most of these cases the player joining has an N7 that's within range of the lobby's average N7.

edit: and you can take screenshots by putting your game in windowed mode, in the ingame graphics options I believe. Otherwise, pressing the print screen button only gives you a black square.

Same problem here. My N7 rating is around 1400 and it takes forever to get a Silver or Gold match going. Had no choice but to play some Bronze matches (and now there are forum posts from Bronze players complaining about higher levels in Bronze. FWIW, when I see I'm dominating the score, i back off and play leisurely. XP and credits get divided evenly so no need to be a d-bag and kill everything). The matchmaking feature would have been great before Diablo 3 released and a bazillion people were playing. Since this it's been hard enough to put together Silver and (non-farming) Gold levels without a matchmaking system that doesn't seem to adjust for server population.

Anyone on the PC with the patch can attest to this fact:  Lobbies are taking a hell of a lot longer to fill up.

Why?  Matchmaking.  Every time I host a game, without fail, the people who join are within 20 or so N7 levels of me.  And that's if it bothers to fill up at all.

When I create a game with a friend or two, the other people who join will have an N7 level that's just a few ranks away from being the averaged value of my N7 level with those of my friends.

Bioware, this is NOT cool.  It is not beneficial.  Please.  Please.  Get rid of it.
