You think cause you had one good lobby night and the next day because you don't 95% of the population is gone? What do you think the game revolves around your lobby? Don't kid yourself if you think the multi population has not declined. Promote 50k characters? That says a lot right there. I have been running into the same lobbies over and over for weeks. I see the same players all the time now. That's pre patch. I have written about it a dozen times. I never said 95% of the population is gone by they way but it has gotten smaller. I'll go do some runs and I will tell you the n7 numbers I see in the lobbies, okay?
No, I think that because from LAUNCH date until LAST NIGHT I could have a lobby fill in minutes, and ONLY after the patch will it take 15+ minutes for a single player to join.
Declined? Yes. But I have never had to wait a fraction of this length of time before. Look at all the other posters having the same issue.
Also, to copy my experiences from the other thread:Shock n Awe wrote...
I subscribe to this. XBox, just got the patch today, and hosting matches with my friend takes FOREVER to find people now.
Here's the kicker: My friend is N7 120, I'm N7 1969. The average of these is 1044.5.
The two players who - after 10 minutes - joined us? 1044 and 1045.Shock n Awe wrote...
Update:
Both the 1044 and 1045 left after that game. 6 new people cycled through, every single one of them was N7 1064 or 1065. Every one of the 6 players.
There is no way this is a coincidence.
I told you I would go look again, and I did. I am not unfair about anything. So I checked all three levels, Gold Silver and Bronze, okay.
Bronze 2 games with the same group. Everyone was in the 500's like me.
Silver 2 Games, First game was a 1800 something, two 500's and a 120
something.
Gold 1 game, 1500 something, 1200 something, me (500+), and 700+.
I saw it on bronze but after that I only saw 1 other 500 player. I will say this I did not see much in the way of low N7's and I am totally fine with that. Full extraction all missions, and some great times. The gold was flawless.
If they have made it that you have a higher chance of playing with people closer to your level, I don't see the problem, it's not 100% of the time at least from my experience. Let the newbs learn with the newbs, let the good players play with the good players. You go to school not everyone is in the same class.
I had no problems finding a game, not to say I have not, but this last time I had none. Any xbox players have a problem finding a game, let me know I'll run with you. I can't solo gold, but I have gotten to wave 6 solo and clutched wave 10 on gold. I use a TS/GE/SI as my top 3 characters. I'll run with anyone if I am free at the time. You know you guys can always make matches.
I don't know why they would even use N7 level for anything, 1/3 of levels come from promotions, you get a bunch of free levels from character cards, not everyone levels that much. You could level fast just using FBWGG and get lots of XP and spend all those credits and get a ton of character cards, it does not make you good, it just means you farmed. Which is what an N7 rank is, you can easily farm promotions and levels.

If they want to change up matchmaking then they need to actually listen to what people want.
1) Option to NOT join games in progress if you don't want to.
2) Check list of what maps you DON'T want searched for (FBW for example).
3) Check list of enemies you DON'T want searched for.
4) An Option to actually search for R/R, as is Unknown Enemy/Unknown Map searches often end up as FBWGG and it can take 10-15 searches on a BAD day. Like to me today.
That's a common trait of any MP game. But I doubt that Bio want/can implement all this.
Say wut? Not a lot of MP games allows you to check off on what maps you don't want to play on. its usually always on what maps/modes/types you DO want to play.
But I I do like the option to delist stuff you don't want to play. Would make doing quick match searches easier.

Unless you want the mp to die, there's nothing to discuss. Change it back.
This.
I didn't really notice this because I'm not into public matches. Several friends were complaining about long matchmaking though. Seeing how most players don't use the forum and may think the game is dead or broken again the rollback should be done as soon as possible imho.

That said, I have been having on average smoother games with this. That slight advantage is not worth the much, much longer times it takes when hosting games to get them to fill up, or the fact that if I run into the odd unpromising lobby, I will likely end up in said lobby another 2-3 times or more. Also the fact that N7 isn't an indicator of skill, even though (contrary to what most BSNers report) I find that high N7 does in fact generally result in smoother games due to more skilled players.
I would prefer if this was set to an option. If I have time for one game and don't mind if I'm hosting, and just want it to have a higher chance of being successful and fast, I could select this. If I'm just playing for fun, I could leave it off and enjoy being paired with randoms of all N7 and skill.
And yes, I have had one (1) outlier game where everyone was over 1500 N7 below me, but every other game has had N7 very similar to mine, or where my N7 (or other players') was close to the lobby's average.

make ping/latency the #1 priority for matchmaking as that's the #1 factor for enjoyable games (dying & missing is adversely affected by lag)

So I hop on and none of my friends are around or playing ME3. I decide to do a quick search for Any/Any/Gold. The first game I pop into is, of course, FBWGG, but this time with two other N7>1000s. I don't feel like farming, but no problem, I'll back out and try again. I re-enter the same match, back out again, and naively tell myself there's no way they'd put me back into the same room a third time, would they? But that's exactly what happens.
So I say screw it, I'll host a lobby. Wanting to play on the new maps, I start a J/U/G. After a few minutes, one N7>1000 player shows up. After a few more minutes, he gets impatient and leaves....and promptly shows right back up. He waits again. If it's still throwing him in there, surely someone else will show up? Wrong again.
So I back out myself and do another quick search using the same parameters I used for my hosted lobby, J/U/G. I wind up with a bunch of N7<300s. No problem, I could hang in Gold when I was at 300ish. Not these guys. I had fifteen revives and about thrice the score of anyone in the game by round three. And we all had complementary classes: two Engineers and two Infiltrators, all above level twenty. Normally that would help even out the score, but not for these guys. I tried to get through anyway, but about the third wave I had to solo from the first minute of the wave was just too much for me to be motivated.
Now that last match could have happened to anyone before the N7 matchmaking. But it was the only match in an hour I was actually able to play, which left a really sour taste in my mouth and seems to be a direct result of the new matchmaking. Will I be on again tonight? Probably. But if I run into the same problem, my interest is just going to continue to fade.
/Rant to get it off my chest

^THIS^ +infinity would be the best option in all honesty. A simple check mark box that says " Match my N7 Rank with other's" would work better as well as the ping match making.

Dude N7 rank means little in terms of skill, that I see every day. Sometimes I run into guys with 2800 N7 and they just suck and sometimes they are really good. Sure I mean I expect them to be better than n7 56 and stuff and they usually are by a mile. So I take it this new system is not 100%. My point about long waits for a lobby is I have been seeing that for weeks. I have waited 20 min in my own lobby, and waited for a player or two in pub for over 10 min. That pre dates this for me by a mile. I had long waits and bad games all last week, this new system does not bug me. But I am n7 500, there are a lot more of us than lets say you with a very high n7. I had more of a problem before just trying to get gold games with good players outside of FBWGG. I am sure they will refine it, but every problem people are talking about I had before the patch. Now, I am actually much happier. The people at this site represent a very small portion of the players. I know it's fun to bag some of the lesser players or carry a team of rookies and all the other stuff, but I like playing on good teams. I got sick and tired of seeing n7, 5, 6, 20, 40, 50 in the gold lobbies.
Look man I don't want you to have to wait, I think after 500 it should all just be meshed together. I say that cause I am a n7 500 plus and I don't want to get stuck with the others. I am sorry this is like dodge ball and picking teams. All the studs over here (studets if your a girl) and all the stinkers over there. There are like 20k, 500 and up n7 players. That said, if they're N7 is 50 or less I'm generally very skeptical. And like I said, I do believe (like many others) that this should get made into an option when searching for games, so that those who want a higher chance of teammates that can hold their own have that chance, while those who just want faster or more unpredictable matches can do that as well.
Like I said, in my - personal - experience, the percentage of "good" players is higher in higher N7 than it is in low N7. That's not saying N7 is a skill indicator - many low N7 players are very good, but the problem is there are an even larger number of low N7 players who are simply relatively new to multiplayer or haven't played the tougher difficulties.

N7 only matters when you have less than 120, more or less, because it shows that you have not tried many of the characters or had time to find a decent weapon. Beyond that, it does not mean much if anything.
Maybe a better system would be to lock the difficulty levels until you reach so many extractions on the lower level.

Having a variety of player experience levels is fun, and it's also part of what helps newer players learn from more experienced ones so that their N7 levels might actually start to indicate basic proficiency as they level up. The current system also adds to frustrating wait periods and impedes getting good games going.
If matchmaking should be based on anything, it should be favorable connections, not something like N7 levels. I'd very much prefer to see it rolled back.

I know what you said, I actually agreed, see the whole point about the n7 5, 6, 10, 20 etc. But rather than see this go I would just like to see it refined a little better, that's all. Bioware tried to do something because fans were complaining about matches with bad players, and wanting some kind of skill level system to help get in better lobbies. We all know fans talked about that for a while now. They tried to do it quick it's not perfect, but I hope they refine it rather than dump it.
