No idea, but I'm able to play mp while my wife and kids hit up netflix on a DSL line. Hosting seems fine for people geographically close to me on my measly 768k up pipe.

I would like to play the multiplayer mode of Mass Effect 3 , but I live out in Seminary,MS and use wildblue satellite internet which has a strict bandwidth cap. Anyone know how much bandwidth MO uses and if so, how low I can play on? I'd appreciate it.

I have wireless internet, and usually don't have a problem with lag. 1Mb down / 256 Kb up connect, though it averages about 75 Kb down with others on the internet, while I am playing a match.

Edit :

You try a couple of test matches it see how it performs.  Also, did you system come with data usage software, as this would help you to determine how much the MP consumes on a basis to basis moment.

Well first off, you're going to have a terrible time on satellite internet, in my experience. The latency is WAY high and most games will just be a lag-fest if you can even connect to any. As for download usage, a typical match is ~25 MB.

I have HughesNet, so WildBlue might be different, but don't count on it. Satellite is satellite. If you do manage to get it working acceptably though, feel free tell me, because HughesNet is the most horrid abomination of internet service ever.

Playing solo doesn't use your internet, everything is done on your Xbox since you're the host and the only one there. It will work just perfectly solo, and will not use up your download allowance. The game still has to communicate with the servers for your items and stats, but that's about the same or less than a web page, in terms of download usage.

Thank you all, this really helps. I can't get a straight answer on Google search.
