Mark Meer speaks, sort of. "Ending unexpected"

I've said this before, but I do genuinely believe both Walters and Hudson thought this was going to be an amazing finale. One that would blow everyone over, elevate the whole ME series to a higher level and have the fans casting rose petals at their feet in rapturous praise.
They failed utterly, but I don't doubt they thought they were doing the right thing.

You can alter things a bit I'd imagine, but when it's the whole "big ending word from up on high this is how we're ending it artistic integrity", you're not going to be able to budge them much.

yeah i agree to be fair regarding the finale, they probably thought we'd love it and find it amazing how we could control the reapers as such, but it failed, it was a gimmick ending ripped off from deus ex, similar to how they thought we'd love there other gimmicks like putting chobot in the game thinking we all love ign, how they thought we'd love there twitter deaths of which i knew nothing about untill coming on here, there mobile apps...etc.
i just feel they messed up big time with the whole game, and maybe the project itself got too big for them to handle, but then meeting deadlines with EA must have had some influence.

Hmm nothing like that for me, though I do get an overwhelming urge to facepalm every time they say it.

That might be the only way I buy ME4. If Agent Coulson is a squadmate.

All I can tell you is that anyone who was/is/will be hoping for the general theme of the ending to change... you might as well leave and never come back right now. Bioware is not going to scrap and rewrite it. I'm sorry.
Clarification, and maybe a different option or two, is going to be the best you can hope for that final choice. If that is unacceptable to you, if that cannot possibly sate your bile... there's really no point in you still being here. Walk away. You'll only be more angry in the end if you stay.
This guy right here has good advice. They were never going to actually change the endings.

That is correct, I still had not finished ME3 the first time when that came out. I was --as much as possilbe-- avoiding spoilers but I knew there was some "issues" with the ending but didn't know specifics as I wanted to make my own decision on the ending.
In fact I had just finished the Rannoch arc when I read that and I was still loving ME3, sure a few blemeshes but nothing too major. Then I got to the end....
They HAD it, a perfect bittersweet ending right there with the Anderson scene, it would have been a fine to let Shep and Anderson watch the Reapers get defeated while bleeding out. If high enough EMS, Shepard lives if not he dies next to Anderson. Epilogue of LI reunion or a funeral for Shepard and show a scene of the galaxy rebuilding. Perfect ending.

I agree I don't think it was malacious.
I too didn't know about the Twitter deaths, that is annoying. I do not mind the mobile apps though I wish the Datapad was on Android as well as iOS. Infilitrator is on both.

Traynor did more.
Not that I'm a big fan of Liara or anything, but this got annoying by the halfway point of the game.

Well, Tranor *was* a better information broker than Liara. It was no secret Liara was an Information Broker on Illum but too many in ME3 know she's the Shadow Broker.
I like Liara, I like all the characters to degrees, there isn't one that I can point to and say "I don't like this one." Sure I have my favorites and hate they don't get as much screen time as Liara. That's the devs not Liara.

Traynor was written as a better source of info in the game. Then they made sure to have EDI remind you at every turn.

You are both right and wrong. It will not be a change in theme/tone from what BioWare intended the ending to be, which was bittersweet yet inspiring and uplifting, however in order for them to achieve that tone/theme stuff will have to be changed. They obviously miscalculated what we would consider bittersweet/uplifting, and accordingly there's a good chance they will change/clarify/retcon stuff to make the endings more positive. Just look at what they've been saying since it was released: Relays disabled in Control, not destroyed. Citadel not destroyed, just broken apart and all plot-important peeps survive. Alliance can use Reaper cores to upgrade their ships for SSJ FTL drives to get home faster. The Normandy has lots of rations to last them (the assumed end of that sentence being, "until they get rescued," whereas the point of that scene before seemed to be they don't get rescued and somehow start a new colony).
So no, they won't rewrite the entire ending, but can easily "clarify" every single consequence of the ending to be more positive.

I think you're outline is probably what we'll get in the EC and I'm good with that. You mention improvements to Control ending. For me it also depends what they do with Destroy as I have issues with Control & Synthesis endings.

That is why, no matter what happens, I will very likely still be unhappy with ME3 as a product. If people get what they want and are happy about it, I am happy for them.

Liara was also written to be the Shadow Broker. Regardless of how it was written, it's still a fact of the game that Traynor provides more intel then the Broker. Shame really...IoCaster wrote...

I certainly wouldn't argue that point at all. My irritation is centered around the bludgeoning that EDI inflicted on my character to make sure that I was aware of how absurdly awesome Traynor is. I understand that she only had the one game to develop as a character, but BioWare resorted to using blunt force trauma to drive the point home.
