Tali and Garrus are two of the best characters in the series.
They could have added more ME2 characters if they wanted to, but that would have taken away from the time they spent messing with MP and creating the heavy melee.

Don't be a ******. That wasn't completely serious. But they could have easily added more recruitable ME2 characters with only mild investment. That is if they didn't want to half-ass the game. And there is in fact a preponderance of evidence that the game was indeed half-assed.

Look I can already see how this is gonna go.....HERE COME all the garrus/tali lovers......TO BE CLEAR: I like them both. However, my point is-there are ALOT of characters in the me franchise and theyre all pretty much great. BUT there is a clear emphasis and overexposure by the writers {due to specific fans} on TWO of these characters......come on, theres a total of 19 sqauddies and only 2 of them are treated at this level....it aint cool
In ME2...yes.
Liara had the spotlight in ME3. So did Garrus. And Williams...Not to forget Kaiden...Or...

There are already 8 squadmates in the game, more would just result in the same thing as ME2 - zero squad banter. They could've simply pick someone else from ME2 for perma squadmates, not Tali & Garrus for the 3rd freaking time. Even Liara is more deserving of the spot in the squad in ME3 than these 2.capn233 wrote...

Lul no. Liara and Garrus trump Ash & Kaidan in the amount of content, not to mention it's all unique unlike Ashley & Kaidan's copy+pasted Mars/Hospital/Coup storyline.Iclonic wrote...

Think about it for at least half a second. Who do you spend 90% of ME2 taking orders from and being around? A xenophobic organization.
So obvious to give out the wrong impression and completely destroy the image you get from ME1 about Shepard, we are going to ignore aliens, make them sit on the sidelines and treat them like dirt etc etc. [/end sarcasm]
And then you come to ME3, its clear who had the spotlight there, so.. yeah... there is a small flaw in your logic.

On the other hand though, Jacob was a complete disappointment in ME 3 so I understand your frustration. Forum mate of mine was talking about how he had gone through the trouble of actually romancing Jacob in one of his runs (but...but... THE PRIZE!), then he meets him again in ME 3 and he says:
"Oh hey Shepard. Yeah I am totally seeing someone else. We good?"
And to quote my forum mate:
"No Jacob, we are not good. My Infiltrator's a Renegade, but there is no option to shoot either Jacob or Dr. Cole, just Cerberus. Now I really hate you Jacob."
Not only Jacob didn't get much exposure, he got crap exposure.
Miranda is really just a cameo, you don't even get to fight with Wrex or Grunt, the list goes on, but again, you can't have it all.
On the other hand, if BioWare released DLCs with stories that are all about the squad members, like they did for Dragon Age: Origins and you'd get to know how each one of them got to the point they did in ME 3, or even cover what happens after, I'd TOTALLY be for it and I'd buy them. That way you can get your fix of your favourite squad member, even though it might mean they are not interacting with Shepard.

Liniarity and shoving the concept of individual shepards out the window. Nothin to do with fan response, everything to do with poor development.

Good thing (or bad) that I like Tali but I was quite dissapointed about:
- ME2 and ME3 you get her character late in the game so she has less content than Garrus,Liara, James, EDI and Javik.
- Lazy-job stock photo... No comment needed.

Well, i cant answer to your question because i love and like them, yes i love Garrus too, but as bro . They are probably most popular characters in ME so they dont "suck" that much i think.
Just to be clear Landon, sure Tali is there in ME3 as squadmember but there is no dialogue with her besides after Rannoch and you get her when 70% is done from game. Jacob has more dialogue in ME2 than Tali and Garrus together!

To all the people saying "I'm happy Tali & Garrus got this treatment but yeah I wish other characters did as well", you do realize you can't have it all right? There's a limited amount of resources, which means they have to pick who to focus more on. Considering this obvious fact, answer this question: why should Tali & Garrus be picked for the THIRD TIME instead of other characters getting a chance to shine just the second (and last) time?
True dis. Someone in Bioware's failing at math and simple logic.

That's a no-brainer. Because they're the best damn characters in the game! I also wouldn't say that there's an obscene amount of Tali. Even with Liara being a non-party member in ME2, I think if you added up all her and Tali's substantive screentime, Liara would still come out ahead.

You keep saying you cant have it all....BUT in me 2 we has 12 SQUAD MEMBERS all with personal story missions and the characters were deeper with more development than in me 3 BY FAR....what aggrivates me is thgey easily couldve had a 10 person squad in me 3, easily they said they didnt so there could be more convos and personal character development and focus with a samller squad BUT THERE WAS LESS in me 3! just auto dialouge all the time, it seemed there was actually less conversation! My li Ashley WOULD NOT have a conversation with me on the ship......what is that? seriously its a bunch of bull, more bioware bs they were probably just being lazy
