I feel the need to vent. The past 3 games I played people left a gold match within the first two rounds. Why do people keep doing that? What a waste of all the equipment I had on. Nothing pisses me off more.

Disconnections, Lack of trust in team, Real life issues.

I do that if the group is terrible... whats the point staying in a game that cant get past wave 6?

The new matching system is sending a lot of people who looked for Bronze matches into Gold ones. I apologize, but I don't find it fun to keep dying with a level 5 or 6 character in a gold match.

The patch screwed a lot of things up, I'm going to give them the benefit of the doubt and say that it wasn't their fault and the game disconnected or made it so it was literally unplayable for them. I know i've encountered a bug where i haven't been able to move at all after joining and there have been several instances when kills where only counting for maybe 1 person so the waves lasted very long if not indefinitely.

i usually leave if anyone gets dropped in first three waves as it is a good indicator that a complete wipe is in the foreseeable future. i rarely use an infiltrator and i hate soloing when everyone is dead.

I try not to quit due to not wanting to waste consumables I spend on Gold, but heavy lag and just a horrible team will have me quitting before I earn credits. If I get credits, then I try to stick it out so it isn't a complete waste, but it's a chore and unenjoyable.

What happens to me is that while playing sometimes the connection breaks. However if its gold, i normally play with friends so send them a quick text so they know i didnt bail.

See if they've assigned consumables pre-match, it's an indication that they have some level of commitment.

However at the end of the day there could be a number of reasons why they leave, e.g. -

1) Lag making the game unplayable for them (if you want to avoid playing with players who may cause or have lag, check out the guide in my sig)
2) Real life issues
3) Feeling like there is no team synergy (or having no confidence in the team being able to succeed)

I´d leave if I end up in a Gold game, when looking for bronze/silver....since I dont think Im good enough for gold yet and dont want to **** it up for the others

1) lag...it happens a lot when i figure out the dude hosting is a russian...sometimes it runs smooth but other times its impossible.

2) Game glitches. Flying over the dam on Hydra, Flying on Giant...disappearing on Reactor...i usually quit if i get glitches...but if we are already on the later waves i just deal with it.

3) Internet disconnection. sometimes my internet will disconnect...but that rarely happens.

This is the number one reason why I quit games in the first round or first couple rounds. I try to stick it out even if I'm lagging, but if it's so bad that I can't place any shots on target and can't even take cover properly, then it's better both for me AND the other players to drop out.

DoubleHell - that guide on checking host location is a great tip. You're awesome.

This. I just played six bronze games, trying to level up my SE after promotion. They went like this:

- disconnect wave 8
- disconnect halfway through extraction round
- full extraction
- disconnect wave 10
- full extraction
- disconnect during extraction

If I was going to get DC'ed, I wish it would have happened in round 2 or 3. Getting to round 10 or later, only to get disconnected, is such an infuriating waste of time.

FYI, this is on PS3, I was hosting, and my connection is always solid. No issues on my end; EA's servers just kept punting me. Never had issues like this before the awesome patch.

I've never had connection issues before today, but I got 3-4 random disconnects in a row earlier. Frustrating as it was all on Gold.

I would say disconnection or that they got thrown into the wrong difficulty/game they don't like.

I must admit, I did this for the first time last night for a couple of reasons.

Usually, I d'c. I did just before in a gold match, but managed to reconnect again. In that time though I'm usually crossing my fingers that 1) they're still alive or 2) I CAN get back in and not hang on the joining screen.

This time around through I outfitted and kitted my overloadspammer engineer for FBWGG. I searched the public servers for these settings and found a game. Waiting in the lobby for one other person, I sorted my weapons and gear for the geth.

When the game started, the host had changed the game to random everything and we went up against reapers on reactor. My kit wasn't fit for that particular enemy, I was so angry. Two of the other members of our team were also kitted for geth, and they and I died by the 3rd wave. The host was running around killing things, died a few times and I thought.. frick! I just wasted my crap on this. I left, and I'm not sorry.

Why lure people in with the promise of a gold run with FBWGG, then change at the last minute without telling anyone? Bastards.
