I have 1.5 MB down and 0.37 MB up. Pretty ****ty, I know, but will I be able to host games just fine or would it be like grinding your balls on a cactus for the other players?
I would ask my teammates in-game, but they never have mics.
What internet speed is optimal to host games

you need at least 1mb up and maybe a little more down in general, i mean your on the modern day version of dial up with that

Well, usually when they're not leaving, your connection must be okay to them. People will not stay in a laggy match, it just won't work out well.
Just don't download/upload anything while you're playing-- maybe limit your hosting sessions to times when others on your network for sure aren't doing any streaming, etc.

This is part of the problem of people being computer illiterate, 1MB(1 megabyte) is not the same thing as 1Mb(1 megabit). I'm going to assume you mean 1.5Mb down and 0.37Mb up, which would mean you're on DSL, or a really, really crappy wifi, either of which would mean hosting is not for you.

Speed isnt important... latency is... under 200ms is ok... under 100ms is better...

Actually - you can test the quality of your connection here:
www.pingtest.net
It will give you your latency and jitter stats and a grade (A is good enough for sure!).

Latency is important, but you also need the bandwidth to communicate with three other players at the same time, if you're upload bandwidth is insufficient the data will bottle neck and your players will lag.MEgaBUD7 wrote...

You barely send information to the other player... Latency > Bandwith...

If you're the host you don't "barely send information" you're sending a lot of information constantly and considering how terrible the netcode is for this game to begin with, I can't help but think that BW didn't optimize for bandwidth efficiency for the host.MEgaBUD7 wrote...

I sometimes host, mostly when the host disconnect. I have 2Mb down and 0,3Mb up, and the game is playable. There are some lags, but we are always able to finish the match.
