What is the real world country associated to Antiva? Some people say Italy, others say Spain. If I were to judge only according to the accent I would say that certainly is not Italy.
Antiva - Spain or what?

Yes, Antiva is a fictionalized version of a medieval Italian city-state like Venice. It's not a perfect comparison by any means, but then none of the Thedas nations are meant to be. They're inspired by real-world history, but that's where it remains.
No, we did not use an Italian accent for Antiva.
And marioflag is half-right in that the original name for Antiva was Calabria. But only because we liked the sound of it. If there are any further similarities between the real Calabria and the Antiva that we have now it's purely coincidental.

Ferelden is roughly inspired by Scotland. Are you suggesting that they should all be speaking with a Scottish accent?LunSei Sleidee wrote...
Shame though. If Leliana's accent is correctly french, and Ferelden's accent is correctly english.... why can't Antiva's accent be correctly italian, too?
It's not our intention for you to think "Antiva is Italy", "Orlais is France", etc. Many of the Thedas countries have a blend of influences... if you insist on putting them into strict categories, you're going to be disappointed.
It's not. The qunari as a people are one part Middle Eastern culture (as they compared to medieval European cultures), one part Mongol horde and one part Borg. Par Vollen is where they live. Are Par Vollen and Seheron inspired by which areas?
