"Fully-Rigged peacock" by MotionCow

For the bargian price of only $149.00 its all yours :D

Or If you prefer one that works in real life (for all you steampunk-clockwork-lovers)

This truly astounding automaton depicts a life-sized peacock with a fanned-out tail spanning over 7 feet.

From the auction listing:

The peacock begins its grand performance in the tail-down position, regally he turns his head and body separately from side-to-side. then he proudly raises his elegant tail plumage and fans his tail out for the fullest effect. The bird then turns side-to-side again, such that all can appreciate his beauty. At the conclusion, he lowers his tail back down in a graceful and realistic manner. All the while, music plays.

The maker is unknown and no other examples of this model are known to exist! The size, age, condition, superb construction, and uniqueness set the estimated value of this automaton between $50,000 and $75,000 USD..

That one might cost a tad more :)

Wow...

*can't wait to have the time to learn to do 3D stuff like this*

Very nicely done, Carcerian!  I love peacocks.  Grew up around them.  Seriously mean and dangerous birds (especially the males) but very beautiful.

BTW, did somebody mention deer

Anims based on BioWare deer model.  Skin mesh and texture from RigsArena.  Time spent on rigging is about four and a half hours so far.  This one was extremely difficult and will probably blow up on me again before I'm done.  Model size is just 111k, texture is 256x256.  If there are any texture artists who would like to take a crack at reskins, the base texture is on the link to RigsArena.  I only shrank it down to 256x256.

Luscious reskin.  BioWare kind of funbled the run anim on the deer though.  It's hindquarters kick up way too much.  Deer are light on their feet, BioWare's deer...not so much.  The walk anim looks good though.  That's not a critique of your work, that reskin is simply amazing!

that deer model is awesome... a few reskins of that to give us a mule deer, and a variant without antlers for a proper doe would rock! Always hated the bio-bland one.. also need a variant to replace the white stag model!

The peackocks will make a great add too! Not sure where, but I'll find a spot!

Rolo... I actually don't even need the dragon turtle.. I just wanted the statue of it :-P Doesn't need anims! the PW/campaign I run uses the FR setting. Starter "Good" city is Loudwater, which has a canon bank called the Watchful Turtle, named after the statue of a dragon turtle that's supposed to be nearby... but I currently lack said statue :P

<firing off...>

Hmmm...

The Watchful Turtle: The Watchful Turtle rents guarded storage space. The Loudwater bridge next door has fanciful, snarling carved stone heads resembling dragon turtles that stare at the warehouses, giving the place its name. The proprietor, Agrath Dundai, is full of tales about Loudwater and the lands around.

Canon or cannon?

Stone, then... I'll see what Cestus can do ;-)

I will be sending my Gorilla's , 2 normal versions (mean face, normal face) and 1 armored (weapon and shield wieldable one)

as for the Wasps I have on Arbor Falls, I cannot take credit for that, that is an old CODI model I received from BatintheHat waaaaay back that wasnt finished, I merely cloned some of its animations to finish it out as a usable game model. But I will upload that as well with credits to CODI for the model/animation

Animentals look great!!

a few other random ideas for the month...  Animal placeables?
  • we have fish.. maybe ones that jump out of the water to indicate a fishing spot?
  • There's already a birdcage model, maybe a variant with birds inside?
For hunters/rangers/butchers/tanners/cooks
  • taxidermy animals/mounted animal heads
  • Skinned fur placeables,  (full pelts for various creatures.. e.g. buffalo robes)
  • MGskaggs made a number of  banquet placeables, various animals on cooking spits.. maybe some similar remakes?
  • While playing on Age of Conan, I came across a half-eaten elk placeable that had a wolf encounter that was preoccupied eating it while I was sneaking past them... maybe a few partially eaten animal corpses?
A Luecrotta and a tressym would both be welcome as well!

Nice ideas!
And here's a few more, from the original entry, for those that are still looking for ideas...

More (or improved) models for "real-world" animals brought into D&D, such as monkeys, crocodiles, smaller birds, additional types of snakes, the platypus (with or without fedora), insects and arthropods (giant dragonfly - being handled), improved elephants and hippos, etc. There have been some of these around for years, but could use some drastic improvements.

Also, how about items and placeables used for dealing with animals, such as smaller cages, grooming tools, harnesses, slaughterhouse equipment, training equipment, full sized stables, chicken coops, etc.?

And what about prefab animal blueprints with stats, or various new animal AI scripts, or new traps for capturing (but not killing) animals for those human druids and rangers out there? Maybe new spells that specifically target animals.

You could even go so far as to create animal-motif PC/NPC clothing (armor/shield/helm/cloak) models/textures. Breastplate with a wolf or lion head design? Eagle head shoulder pieces? Snake design shin guards? Armor that includes small decorative metallic wings or tintable (cloth/leather channel) feathers attached at various points?

Carcerian - that's a pretty nifty idea.

Just a handful more model ideas:

Doves/pigeons.

Walrus and seal.

Decent-looking dolphins and whales.

------------------

Something else which I truly hope might be fairly simple:

Taking the existing birds and making new versions with them at different flying heights. So that now in the toolset you'll have three versions instead of  one 'Gull, flying' - 1) Gull, flying low, 2) Gull, flying and 3) Gull flying high. Hopefully this could be done to several models of bird - always found the 'next to the ground' flying heights of birds rather ridiculous in NWN, but having trawled through CEP-infused toolset there are some signs of hope:

http://img607.images...ightheights.jpg

Ideally this would make the medium and high flight birds imperveous to milee attacks (ranged attacks only) and make a corpse appear at ground level once shot down, but that is a bit more complex that just adjusting flight height.

Love the 'capture' idea. You have a special item that 'captures', after which you have to roll either an 'animal empathy' check or a charisma check. Success would mean that this animal gets 'bound' to this item permanently to be summoned at will.

Elaboration on this:

1) An animal empathy/charisma check on each subsequent attempt to summon, endless attampts but at set intervals. Each successful summoning may lower the DC needed to summon your critter.

2) Further imitation of 'training' would be ability level up such tamed animals through a variety of actions, a bit like a four-legged Tamagochi in game. A death, bleed and 'flee' system could be introduced for them so that they are not used as a straight exploit in gameplay, making them more of a pet than a meatshield.

------------------------------

Another animal-related idea that's been sitting in my head for sometime that would make Druids (and possibly some clerics and rangers) an exceptionally cool class to play.

If anyone here read Terry Pratchett, he has this thing that witches in his books do called 'borrowing', where they 'ride' the minds of wild beasts to gain knowledge and information, while their bodies are safely in a coma-like state at home.

In NWN this could be something similar to 'possess familiar' that wizards can do, but this can be done to any animal.

Here is the tricky bit: while possessing as animal, the player will shadow this animal's faction, and thus be able to possess hostile animals and walk along their fellows  and the rest of the wilds without being attacked most of the time, other enemies would do what they would naturally when seeing this animal - in many cases just ignore it. Similarly, other players will not have a very easy way to telling if the wild animal is thus possessed or not.

(possible elaborations: Necromancers doing this with undead and  wizards with certain magical bests)
------

Apologies if this is slightly off-topic, but I have a ton of ideas like these sitting in my head and this one does have to do with animals.

Thx! The floor tiles are seamless, you just have to have it lined up properly, as in top and 3rd screenshots.

(Rotating so hexes go left right and not up/down for example...)

And yeah, still working on texturing. :) (Geometricly hexes make poor neverwinter floors apparently)
