I was hoping for a ME game as well, but sadly, there is none. At least there are 3 of ME, all which I enjoy.

I have Deux Ex, I thought I would like it, but sadly I don't.

I hope there is a ME4.

Was thinking of getting deus ex human revelution, was just wondering what you dont like about it anyhow?

Thanks for all the replys so far everyone, am checking out all the games mentioned, unfortionately dont have an xbox, only a ps3 so cant play some of those mentioned.

Whats fallout 3 like anyhow, any fun to play or is it just really violent/gorey?

Also have played red dead redemption alright, great game too

A lot of people really enjoy playing Fallout 3, but I cannot really get into it.
P.S It is not really like ME.

There's nothing I dislike quite as much as medieval fantasy, but I liked Dragon Age a lot anyway. I'd give it a try even if it's not your thing. Also seconding Fallout.

Fallout 3 and Fallout New Vegas are great options if you play on PC. If you're going to play it console they're still good but without the user modding community you're missing out on... well, everything.

Alpha Protocol is good, the first and most recent Deus Ex titles are good. If you like space simulators I recommend the X3 series.

All of those games are rather sandboxy though. I assume most Biofans don't care for that type of gameplay.

Fallout 1 and 2 are worth a shot, if you don't mind playing on the PC and can get over dated graphics. Fair warning, though - combat is totally different than Mass Effect. They're not even remotely like shooters.

I have Fallout 3, but couldn't get in to it. I keep meaning to give it another shot, but I always get distracted by Mass Effect.

I think Wasteland 2 sounds interesting, though it won't be released until 2014. At the earliest.

You might also want to give CD Projekt's sci fi RPG a try when it's released, though it probably won't be out on the shelves for some time.

Sadly, RPGs with a sci fi setting are few and far between.

Well, there is one series of games that share a lot of characteristics with Mass Effect...

The original Knights of the Old Republic I and II.

Big Rigs: Over the Road Racing.

The story is simply phenomenal, graphics is top notch, choices affect how your squad mates react, multiple planets to explore and just beautifully haunting soundtrack which is comparable to experiencing eurphoria. especially when viewing the highly detailed skyboxes onboard  The Puff, an reconaissance warship co-created by the Iranians and the US.

The Puff is also customisable and fully explorable, ambience is great and feels real, members of the crew give invaluable insight into the history, creation and Engineering of The Puff and on Earths history.

In your cabin, you can view the news stations on events that happen throughout your gameplay and this can change depending on the choices you make.

The weapon variety is monstrous compared to Mass Effect 3, one weapon simply called the Bollockbanger is capable of ripping someones head of by firing slugs via magnetic rails enchanced by a computer processor inside.

Other otable gameplay moments is enaging in space combat agaisnt the OMG Fister of the Chinese Federation where you got to recover a alien artifact.

IGN rated it 10/10

Ben 'Yathzee' Croshaw shedded a man tear and gave it an 8.

BioWare 1/10

An open post apocalyptic world with some great atmosphere and a crappy story.
That is F3 in a nutshell imo.
Whether you like F3 depends on how critical you are on a story imo.

I prefered F3 setting to FNV, but yes F3 story was not the greatest, but I liked how dark it was especially with DLC like The Pitt or Point lookout, tough FNV has bigger choice of armors with DLCs of course, I just hope Bethesda announce FO4 next week.

Not sure, in terms of creating a rage and killing the series with supposed "rushed butchery" by EA, I'd have to say ultima 9.

Check out this guys review of ultima 9 and the ultima series to see the parallels between that and mass effect 3's fans reactions.

and the rest of the ultima videos for context here, '
http://spoonyexperim...com/video-list/

Otherside of that all the posters before me pretty much listed all the similar gameplay games.

Wing Commander 3 and 4 are the games that got me into "interactive story telling" games.

Bit old for a PS3 however. Posted Image

Colonel Blair for the win!

Dead space has a similar setting/theme. It's survival horror though not RPG, but still fun.

Fine RPGs not necessarily similar to ME:

Star Wars the Old Public I (A masterpiece!) and II.
Fallout Series
The Witcher Series
Deus Ex Series (Human Revolution was my favorite game of 2011)
Dragon Age (Get Ultimate Edition and avoid 2 unless someone gives it to you haha)
Dark Souls and Demon's Souls (Extremely hardcore RPGs for the masochists inside)
The Elder Scroll Series (Skyrim might be your cup of tea)
Fable (Just the first one)

Thematically a lot of the games have already been mentioned, in particular Starcon 2 (3 is okay too, not as good as 2 but still worth playing), the KotORs (get the RCM for 2) and the Wing Commanders are very similar to ME in terms of theme and setting. You might also like Starcraft (it's an RTS, but set in a space opera setting). If you just want a sci-fi shooter with a space marine protagonist the list huge.

Gameplay wise Gears of War and Alpha Protocol (If you're playing on the PC there's a user patch that fixes the camera bugs) are more similar to ME than most.

Lot of suggestions here that don't work for a PS3 player, people don't read threads before posting lol.

The best bet for OP I'd say is Dues Ex Human Revolution. Thats the closest you'll find in both game mechanics and setting and everything.

Dragon Age is also still worth checking out imo even if your not typically a fantasy fan because its just so grand (as in BIG, its a huge game) and well done.

Skyrim / Fallout 3 / New Vegas are pretty different in mechanics, its more about open world exploration, dungeon crawling etc, not the story, but you do get to talk to npcs with choiceful dialog and make decisions that alter events if thats what your looking for mostly. Amazing games too.

Alpha Protocol is an interesting one. On one hand its rpg mechanics are not just solid they are fantastic. The choices you make REALLY effect the story in important ways, far more so then Bioware games typically. On the other hand, everything else about the game is subpar. Bland graphics, bugs, wonky controls, awful AI, etc. If your in it for the RPG stuff above everything else then its fairly enjoyable but otherwise you'll think its downright awful.

With Bioshock, the ending to the game plays out based off your choices. Although it's really just three choices, and not thousands. Good, bad, or neutral. In terms of RPG elements, it has a lot more customization than Mass Effect 3 does.

I hate the color palette of fallout 3. Grey, dull blue, dark. Graphics is not the best also. You can't say I didn't try when I put 10 hours into the game, most of the time going back & fro to town to sell item & buy ammo.

Maybe I pick the wrong skill or something, I literally need to return to town like every 3-4 monsters kill. Finally sold it off.

ME series have just the total package. Great character, good graphics (especially ME2 & 3), lots of interaction, good character developments & story. Great gameplay (that has improve from ME1 to ME2 to ME3).

I mean, you can almost play it like a typical shooter, or barely fire a shoot, using just biotic & tech, or a little mix of both. You can just let your teammates do their own stuff, or you can make some tactical decision, completely up to you, depends on class & play style.

Bioshock is really nice, & good atmophere, but its hardly like ME IMO.

There are some RPG elements that are nice. Only complain is the lack of enemies variation.

Alpha Protocol

The Witcher games.

Fallout New Vegas

Deus Ex: Human Revolution (probably the most Mass Effect-ish type.)

As for RPGs? Just for RPG sake...

Planescape: Torment.
