I agree with almost everything that was just said. I think either Fallout 3 or Fallout New Vegas are games you can't go wrong with. We'll have to agree to disagree about Alpha Protocol. I thought it was dreadful, and lots of people did. But some apparently loved it so maybe you will too.

But I doubt it. Lol...

I tried the bioshock demo but didnt like it at all to be honest.

Have never tried any games by maker of fallout, but alot of people seem to be suggesting fallout 3

bioshock is worth giving a second chance. im not sure what you wouldnt like about it! the abilities are fun, the gunplay is good, the story is intrigueing and the atmosphere is possibl the ebst ever in a game. its not just another FPS, thats for sure.

fallout3 took me two chances to be a good game. i rented it and thought it was awfull. actually what got me was the first time i jumped. the animation just looked so crappy, i thought "oh man if jumping is this bad, the rest of the game must suck too." its a good thing i re-rented the game and gave it a second chance. its got TONS of hours of gameplay and is a huge open world you can literally loose yourself in. fallout3 is similar to ME in that its another shooter with RPG elements, or vise versa.

between fallout3, bioshock, and DE:HR, youve got some pretty premium titles waiting for you to play them. so stop posting here, go rent thos games, and let us know in a week what you think. but dont forget about alpha protocol, which prolly is the most similar to ME. its just not as good overall as the first ones i mentioned.

I'll try pick up Fallout 3 Game of the year edition if i can and will look at getting Deux Ex down the road, might try bioshck again, but am still very warey of alpha prototocal.

If anyone else has more ideas for games like Mass Effect Seriesm please share anyhow, would like to hear Image IPB

fallout new vegas has various tweaks and new stuff but play fallout 3 first. it kind of assumes your new to the serious and eases you in. makes the immersion better.
Yh there is gore. slow motion head's exploding. I don't care for gore but i didnt mind it.

here is a good example of the shooting system...if you don't want to see that either don't use the VATs system to shoot orrr shoot them in the chest lol. you can choose upgrade perks which makes chest shots easier instead or head shots and later on..laser guns that quick melt them with no gore llol.

Deus ex is more action stealth then rpg. You you make upgrade and combot choices that give you flexibility in progressing through a level. you can even talk your way in, that will get an enemy to shutdown defences etc. they all effect gameplay..there is no major decision changing event's, no romance, no making friends, no really deciding who lives and dies other then using a tranquilizer gun instead on a shotgun during gameplay lol. Brilliant game but not what you are looking for.

if mass effect 2 is the first rpg you played then fallout is going to surprise you. 25 different stats, 60 perks to choose from, you can sneak around, pick pocket, free roam walk anywhere...swim, you can have a little house-hut, there is no cover mechanisim, plant mines. much more armours, clothes, hats, sunglasses lol.Welcome to the real world of rpg.

I bought Dragon Age years ago and never got into it. Recently though I did start and it is surprising to me how it almost mirrors everything about ME. Not game play style wise, but some other things about it. Dark spawn are like Reapers. You try to unit different races. Even after seeing the disappointing Tali reveal and then seeing the elves in DA living in the woods, i think that's were that got Talis base imagine from. Not huge imaginations in some ways when you do that.

I also am braving DA2 now. Its only $20 so what the hey.

The Witcher2 is pretty amazing though. It kind of made me wonder if this ME series were under the wing of Warner Brothers such as the Witcher is. At least Traynor and Shepard would not be taking their showers with cloths on at least....(sigh)...stupid

I like ME because it has a gripping storyline, memorable characters and references to many things, such as future/past games.
Though nothing alike (meaning sci-fi and that) it is LA Noire. It has a storyline that grips you and you wont want to stop until you complete it. I liked every single characters, each being unique and funny in their own way.
**not sure if this would be concidered a spoiler, but it does tell part of the story away** When I played though it a second time, the first proper case you do, there's a policeman talking about a new highway being built and the city hasn't enough money to build it, which is the main story line for the last desk you work on. I find that pretty awesome, a reference to the future :D

Sounds like you can do some load of stuff in it, had a look at the video but found the heads just flying off a bit much, but otherwise seemed ok, would be great if you could avoid heads rolling off
Yeah am completly new to the Fallout Series, have never played one of em or heard much about em till everyone here suggested it. I like the idea that you can customize stats and armour and things in it, the sunglasses really seal the deal lol.

Deus Ex sounds good but would have been hoping for more meaninfull decesions in it, might pick it up cheap when i get a chance though.

Thanks for the help, much appreciated. Image IPB

if you plan to buy all the dlc then yeah GOTY edition will work out cheaper....

but i suggest...buying the normal edition...and then 40 hours in when your near the end you may decide you love the game...sell normal edition for $2 and buy GOTY editon.

Thus this way if you hate the game or love it so much you want alllll the dlc...you are only €3 out of pocket. :D

Buy the GOTY edition definetly. Why? Cause all of them are good and two of them are freakin amazing. All of them also take a substantial amount of time to finish and are not just simply a few missions or items.

DLC 1: kinda linear, but nice story and best stealth suit ever.
DLC 2: more story, new location, more decisions, best combat armor ever.
DLC 3: continues the Main Story and lets you play afterwards (in the normal game it's over after the last main story quest) AMAZING
DLC 4: ABSOLUTELY AMAZING, adds a huge new area (around 1/6 of the size of the game world) filled with so much stuff
DLC 5: kinda meh, but pretty funny with all the alien retro vibe going on

So, if you still don't wanna get GOTY you should definetly at least get DLC 3 (Broken Steel) so you can continue playing after the main story.

Was thinking of buying the standard edition as is supposed to be less glitchy, the goty edition although good value sounds a nighnmare with bugs and glitches from what ive read anyhow.

If i was to just buy one dlc off the store, which is best? does the broken steel one add to the story? and can you buy and play the dlc at any point of your gmae or must you start a new game if your hours into the story and then buy broken steel dlc? thanks Image IPB

Definitely. Fallout series has the best expansions and there are a bunch of them, for both 3 and New Vegas. Buy the GoTY for both, it's worth it.

On PS3 though remember, lagginess, freezing and framerate drops are common place. Most if not all will say the games are very much worth the frustration (including me, I have both for PS3). Just remember to save very, very often.
