Cerberus Vanguard - Bugged Shields?

I'm curious if specializing in melee actually increases melee damage. Can anyone verify that? It'd be interesting to test if the first three ranks actually apply but rank 4-6 do not on the fitness tree. That certainly confound some of the tests being performed.


Good question, I'd tend to say its just ranks 4-6 but some testing will have to be done. As a side note, heavy melee is great. My Phalanx or Predator equipped with the melee stunner and putting on a strength enhancer...heavy melee makes fast work everything(on silver). I see so many Phoenix running around and never using heavy melee :crying: It's a potent killer, I say use it when needed! I can't tell you how many times it's saved me from an impaling phantom and I can't count how many other players I've seen drop because they didn't use it.

I've gone many matches without ever shooting a weapon, constant lashing about and when needed, a smash thru a wall and heavy melee quite a bit for brutes and the like. LOL I love charging atlases, heavy melee to recharge everything, smash, heavy melee, charge again...good times! I did some of that lastnight with some forum members, they were probably like "oh good grief look at this ass" hahahaha but it works :whistle: If I felt the shields/health/barrier worked properly, it would be by far my fav character to use. Until it's fixed, the broken justicar remains #1

I really want bioware to put this issue to rest and either confirm or deny the situation, because i swear when i alternate between regular human adept and phoenix adept, the phoenix can blink and have half his health gone if there are so much as two cannibals shooting him at once, blink again and my health gate is flashing. This is on silver. SILVER.
I was able to spam singularity/warp or warp/shockwave and take less damage using both powers than the phoenix takes using smash once, and if the enemy was just outside of smash's range than the frustration really kicks in. If i die cause i messed up, that's one thing, but if i die because i can't reach my armored opponent with my one move that works on him, and a couple trash mobs gun me down crazy quick when i used my power from COVER, it's kind of a drag

I find they have bugged health AND shields.
For some reason i keep getting downed by even the weakest of enemies in seconds -_-

Not really, its more about getting hit from enemy bullets.

Btw I'm testing those at Gold difficulty, usually cleaning up the entire wave except 2 enemies (usually a Cannibal and a Marauder) and test them while cc'ing the other or simply dividing them.

Edit: Tested on Silver, there IS something odd. (Tested with a human vanguard with 625 barrier and PV with 825 against our friend Marauder Shields)

HV: sliver of barrier still on
PV: barrier down

Check the manifest if in doubt. That one has Adept, but not Vanguard (allowing for the 60 minutes update)

I can only pray they fix this. 
It's 100 times worse with the Adept (which is the only one I have).
It's horrible too because it's one of my new favorite classes. Nothing better than being like Whiplash from Iron Man.

Exactly what most of us are experiencing. I have little confidence using this character thanks to BW's oversight. The sad part is that even IF this gets put on their list of things to fix, it could take a few updates until it reaches us <_<

I think Fitness still increases the PV's health/shields, it's just lower than what is displayed.

I respec'd my PV to a melee build and it definately died faster than my usual melee/shield combo

I think you might be onto something here.

I just remeber a suspicious death when I was playing Vorcha Sentinel vs. Cerberus (gold) yesterday. I had full shields, full health and Bloodlust was active. I ran into a spawn with a Centurion and a couple of Troopers and was downed in an instant. There is no way in hell those couple of mooks could have passed both the shieldgate and critical health gate that fast. And not to mention Bloodlust was active, wich usually regens your hp fast enough to give you at least a couple of extra critical health gates. Something definitelly wasn't right.

And I think whatever this is (bug most likely) coupled with the fact that the Phoenix characters are the most squishy of the new classes, is what is causing them to drop like flies. And NOT the fitness tree. From a couple of quick tests I did today, I am 99% sure that fitness is working as intended.

It's not. Healh and Shield increase is the same as with other characters.

Phoenix Vanguard 700/700 - looses about a third of his shields

I'd say the fitness tree on Phoenix characters works just fine.

I'd just like to point out that the people who haven't seen fitness being bugged were on bronze and the people who have were on silver/gold.  

It shouldn't make a difference, but there is a clear difference in who is seeing the bug and who isn't and it seemingly has everything to do with the difficulty used under testing conditions.

I'm glad it's not just me finding it squishy, with shields maxed out and the shield booster gear I should be at 1k ish in shielding, and yet I've found my drell to be more durable than this guy, and my justicar in comparison is an outright tank.

I Cant speak for the Vanguard but I did unlock and played alot with the Adept this weekend and what Immortal Strife says downed me more than anything.

Other than that he didnt seem to take more damage than any other caster class I´ve played.

I think the Cerberus classes should get some sort of DR during the animation, like Batarians heavy melee.
