Especially if its a single-shot rifle, as you get heavily penalized for missing.

If enemies are able to see you and attack you, then yes.

Trust me, you might not notice if you only play bronze or silver, but in gold, you can *feel* when your team's infiltrator isn't pulling his weight. A lot of people pull a BW out of their PSP, and think they're now godsniper 5000.
They then do badly. So clearly, there is some form of skill/learning curve attached to this, otherwise everyone that picked up a rifle would be amazing. They aren't.

For real. Enough with the who's better then who stuff. Play the game the way you like it, and let others do the same.
EVERYBODY HAPPY!!! (I wish)

Look, if you have fun doing this, then more power to you. But I just don't get this claim that it requires a lot of skill. Or any skill for that matter. Do the people claiming this really believe it?
It's awesome that such a thing is easy for you, but don't be a jerk about it.

Don't forget when your teammate is cloaking the whole game enemies are looking at you. They are using you as a decoy.
Good point! I never really thought of it in that way.

But this is Mass Effect. This game doesn't require any skill.

With the sniper it's more of an art, being able to land that one shot on the other side of the map to take out a pesky Phantom or before the patch Geth Primes. That's what snipers are about, landing that one or two shots that can change the entire course of the battle.
Anyone can use a sniper rifle, but to master one takes skill.

arent headshots pointless because of the shield gate. everything with no shields dies from one body shotAlexraptor1 wrote...
Being effective at it, I.E scoring consistent headshots is indeed a skill.

Because you have to aim, and the rifles generally punish people that can't.

Okay, I'll concede that I don't play much Gold, so it might be a different story there. My opinion is mostly based from what I see in Silver, which is why I asked, because maybe there's more to it than it seems.

I rarely use sniper rifles, so I'm not boasting at all. Like Tali'Zorah, I like things up close. So this is more a question from a non-sniper to the infiltrator snipers out there.

If the player is doing more damage with certain combinations, then yes. Then that player knows what he/she is doing. The multiplayer is about a little more than sniping.
If the player can't revive people, help with objectives or even get to the extraction point, then I can't care less about how many enemies he/she shot in the face during that match.

Very true, never join a lobby with 3 infiltrators!
The only skill is using a sniper, reason for cloaking while shooting is the extra boost for damage.

How is standing in a corner and hitting a button skill?
Or mashing two buttons: charge-> nova, skill?
Would you rather people actually DIE or just kill you?
Let people play as they will and all will be well, unless it's a novaguard with a BW and a claymore... him you kick.
