Sniper Rifle DPS is pretty low unless you're getting headshots

Until you increase it with a 130% bonus.

It's still low then, in gold body shots don't matter much, head shots matter a LOT.

Against constantly moving enemies lining up a shot and suceeding take skill.

At least you don't have to account for gravitational pull, wind velocity and bullet drift in this game, well with most SRs anyway, with the kryase you do.

Have you actually played Gold?  Head shots don't matter that much with many SR's on Infiltrators.

Sniping isn't a skill?

Challenge Accepted. Sounds like it's non-Infil, Incisor time. . .

I still get a laugh when I see people bragging about headshots / sniping in ME3.

Heh.

Firebase White, Geth, Gold (can't stand it, but I sucked it up for the sake of this challenge), no camping in control room (in fact I never entered it at all), and effectively split from the squad. Quarian Engineer using an Incisor X and a Harrier I (for the hunters that crept up). . .

Final Result: 2nd place with 68566 points. I had stayed in 1st place, generally between 1000-5000 points difference between myself and the leader, a Salarian Infiltrator with a Widow until Wave 8 when I ran out of revives (as a side note, thank you to the squadmates who stuck their neck out to revive me). We finished - Full Extraction - with a 10K difference between us. Beyond that however, I self-maintained, utilized tech bursts in conjuction with my sniping, and surprisingly managed THAT with a weak weapon I'd never used EVER, without the aid/amping of Tac Cloak, and had to manage some bad recoil at times.

. . .Yep. No skill.

Who gives a damn about skill? I just like to play the MP with sniper rifles, deal with it.
The only true skill in MP is knowing where to split, where it's safe to solo, when to back up your teammates (and how), when to revive etc.. - tactical skill, not twitch-reflex "pixelshooting/buttonmashing" that is the general attacks.

Because you have to aim, and the rifles generally punish people that can't.

Trust me, you might not notice if you only play bronze or silver, but in gold, you can *feel* when your team's infiltrator isn't pulling his weight. A lot of people pull a BW out of their PSP, and think they're now godsniper 5000.

They then do badly. So clearly, there is some form of skill/learning curve attached to this, otherwise everyone that picked up a rifle would be amazing. They aren't.

OP and people like him make me *facepalm*.

Look, if you have fun doing this, then more power to you.  But I just don't get this claim that it requires a lot of skill.  Or any skill for that matter.  Do the people claiming this really believe it?

Not that I'm disputing your main point, but what in this game requires skill???  I keep hearing that stupid **** and it's as though people have never touched a shooter before.  This is not a skill based shooter.  Sniping is not hard.  Nor is using shotguns, pistols, etc.

It's my perception that sniping with an infiltrator requires less skill because the player really doesn't have to risk being harmed.  The non-infiltrator squadmates draw all the attention, and the potential damage, thus they need to use significantly more defensive tactics than someone that is invisible.  The invisible sniper generally stays out of harm's way.

A good infiltrator has to...

(1) Make every shot count,
especially with single-shot rifles.  That means prioritizing targets and
keeping the headshot count as high as possible.

(2) Utilize
tactical cloak both to maintain distance and to coincide with these shots to maximize damage output.

(3) Use TC for revives and to complete objectives.  Infiltrators who don't do this are lame.

One can argue that it doesn't require skill (I think it does), but playing an infiltrator responsibly does take work.

Food for though, i dont even need the TC for objectives/revives half of the time :P

I know plenty of players who are crap snipers and freely admit it.  There's also a technique to mastering the rhythm of effectively managing the cloak recharge with your firing pattern.  Last I checked, flame-baiting was against the forum rules as well.

It's a leisure activity why does it matter what requires skill and what doesn't. Skill is subjective and opinionative in the first place.
