Low ems doesn't equal genocide. The Geth are collateral damage, and destroying the Reapers is a kindness to the minds of the races trapped within them.

So it's delay the slaughter and give the races time to fight back, Make everyone survive in an altered state, or kill them all slowly and guarantee their extinction.
Or you can try being like me and speculate that everything turned out fine instead of horrible.

Also, being hyperbolic for the sake of showing why the entire forums cynicism is a little silly to me.
I like to think that shepard controls the reapers and uses them for a force of good, rebuilding the galaxy and ensuring peace while not harvesting life anymore.
