Of course he doesn't. I've never read it as having a negative connotation, though, but the very, very positive one that he also takes it as (IE, the performance was a GOOD one). I think that one it depends a great deal on what you imagined the tone of voice to be when you first read it.
EDIT: To be honest, I never had trouble 'reading' Alistair. It is Zevran that is confusing me. I"ll have what seems to be a perfectly amiable conversation, end up with something like a -7, and have no idea what I had said that made him so angry. Heh.
Yeah, I always saw it as a sort of "Mmm, not for
that performance, love" sort of thing, but I never chose it because I was afraid it'd be taken the wrong way and get me a sadface Alistair. There really needs to be some notes to the side of the answers. (Playfully) or (Hostile) or something. Oh well.
With Zevran, he's definitely the hardest character to get any sort of read on, at all, I thought he was extremely well done in that respect, despite how frustrating it can be.
