- 72  :o

He was humming and stammering and trying to tell my PC he loves her for like 13th time, so I just told him I find his joke very funny. Went from *adore* to zero in single hit.

I admit I never saw that much disapprovement yet. What is your best minus score? Is there a way to get more?

That is outstanding - you can do that with a female character to I s'pose, right?

-100 with Morrigan. I ended it with her, then finished by saying "Good it's done".

That much? Wow I have to reload some of my old saves to see it myself.

Poor Alistair, he pull his heart out for the PC and it just got stomped on the ground.

-100 when Al asked me about my relationship with Zev and I told him I was going with Mr. Puss in Boots instead of him.

*reload previous save*

I think if you're in a romance with a character and end it, it resets their approval rating to 0.  The negative number is just how much approval you had with them up to that point.  You lose it ALL.

Not always, at least not in the PC version. I just ran through with my mage choosing Zevrean over Alistair (difficult for me as a player!), I actually got a +1 from Alistair when I talked to him about it and ended the romance.

Alistair can be kind of hard to get a read on, actually. He loves jokes and such but there's a certain point where he just shuts down and takes everything seriously. It doesn't help that some of 'mean' responses can get you a joking response while others get a sadface Alistair.

Example: After making love..

Alistair: You know, according to all the sisters in the monastery, I should have been struck by lightning by now.

PC: Not for that performance.

Alistair: Meaning I was so good the Maker Himself couldn't punish me for it? Right? Right? Aww.

It's really quite confusing, as some of the 'mean' responses could just as easily be playful teasing as well.

Wow yeah, I wouldn't -dare- use that option. He doesn't get pissy if you say that? How strange.

I lost something like 21 points with Al for letting the kid's mom sacrifice herself to open the fade. I didn't realize Alistair would take it so hard, and besides, she volunteered.

I don't think he likes the idea of using living people for golems.  He isn't a very good Warden, to be honest.  Doesn't get the whole 'do whatever it takes' thing.  He doesn't like sacrificing the few to save the many, which is why he refuses to be in a leadership position.

I hope if Alistair ever is in sequel they make him more confident and more grown up he shouldn't be the follower people should be following him. He needs to wake up and smell the coffee and stop whining and do what needs to be done.

Ok lets see. We are in some kind of medieval times with knights running around respecting innocent virgin and being gentlemen and all that jazz (at least I got such impression, maybe I am wrong).

So here comes a guy raised in Chanrty and taught all the manners towards noble girl, and what does he do? After getting few ohhh shinies he is so much in love he cant wait anymore and has to get into her pants. We may all be dead tomorrow so lets have some fun kinda talk. Now since we dont die tomorrow or the day after, what would proper behavior for honorable young knight be? To marry the girl he "spoiled" of course, asap. Not this honorable guy focussed on duty though - when he realizes the girl actually expects him to *do something about it* he starts talking about honor and duty being something to drive them apart eventually. Yeah, right, I heard that kind of excuse already :P

I havent stomped him to the ground as he deserves yet, I am not gonna be happy until I get him to leave before Landsmeet (I dont know if its an option but a girl can always dream, yes?)

Alistair reminds me of Duncan during the Calling. I honestly think (depending on your choices) will turn out quite a bit different if we say dropped in on him say 5-10 years down the road.

I think my record was -99 when I turned down Alistair's invitation telling him he was a funny man.

I reloaded of course.... :)

As far as the Golems thing goes, I can def see from his POV. The Darkspawn take over corpses and are essentially slaves of the Archdemon with no real free will or choice. Golems are dwarves forced to take over stone bodies and are slaves of whomever has their control rods.

I can very much understand that the ends does not justify the means disapproval from Alistair.

And LdyShayna, that's too funny that you got approval from Al when you dumped him. So will have to try that. Maybe I'm just too mean when I end relationships.

Of course he doesn't.  I've never read it as having a negative connotation, though, but the  very, very positive one that he also takes it as (IE, the performance was a GOOD one).  I think that one it depends a great deal on what you imagined the tone of voice to be when you first read it.

EDIT: To be honest, I never had trouble 'reading' Alistair.  It is Zevran that is confusing me.  I"ll have what seems to be a perfectly amiable conversation, end up with something like a -7, and have no idea what I had said that made him so angry.  Heh.

Yeah, I always saw it as a sort of "Mmm, not for that performance, love" sort of thing, but I never chose it because I was afraid it'd be taken the wrong way and get me a sadface Alistair.  There really needs to be some notes to the side of the answers.  (Playfully) or (Hostile) or something.  Oh well.

With Zevran, he's definitely the hardest character to get any sort of read on, at all, I thought he was extremely well done in that respect, despite how frustrating it can be.

Alstair is a whiny little sissy. He refuses to take responsiblity for anything and whines if you do something he doesn't like. I wish I had the option to kill him because I would.
