Garrus is the Huntress, actually.

Post-LotSB Liara's trying really hard to be Oracle but I'm not buying it.

Awesome coincidence. Kimberly Brooks, Ashleys Voice Actor, voiced Oracle in the Arkham series.

I don't know about the rest but Miranda is definitely the Wonder Woman of Mass Effect - designed to be essentially perfect women. Perhaps a bit darker Wonder Woman but still Wonder Woman. Not Catwoman - who I don't think has the equivalent in Mass Effect. Sure they both wear catsuits but thats it.

She also voiced one of the Batwomen in that Batman direct to DVD movie.

Relaunched pretty much cleaned up the universe. It brought Vertigo and Wild Storm lines into continuity with the mainstream DC. Reestablished the multiverse and homes of them - the Green Lantern you speak of is Alan Scott. Originally, he was the Earth-2 (think Earth-2 as being the home to the ORIGINAL superheroes back in the 40s) Green Lantern (with Hal Jordan being Earth-1 when the Silver Age began) then late 80s happened and all the multiverse was combined into a single universe and Alan Scott (along with many others) resided with the main stream heroes. Couple of years ago, the Multiverse was created again and couple of months ago, they restarted the entire thing - kind of returning everyone back to where they were from in the 80s albeit more modern with new origins and designs.

Wonder Woman for instance is the daughter of Hippolyta and Zeus whereas before, Hippolyta simply molded her out of clay.

Whaaat? Miranda is absolutely nothing like Diana. Diana is a confident, compassionate, friendly, charismatic, feminist warrior Goddess of Truth on a mission to make the world a less prejudiced and douchebaggy place and unite cultures in peace and respect. Miranda is an insecure, aloof, off-putting (I love her, but it's pretty clear the squad doesn't, while Diana would have had even Jack eating out of her hand by the end of the first week) espionage agent and scientist on a mission to advance humanity even at extreme cost and above other cultures if possible. Black hair and blue eyes is about all they have in common.

Paragon Shep is a pretty fair match, though, if slightly less practical than Diana. Certainly he or she has the charisma and leadership and impossibly unrealistic skill at diplomacy.

Yeah, it was freakin' weird. Especially since you still had Conroy and Hamill so you're expecting Tara Strong.

That series does not remotely do justice to Babs' character anyway, though. Actually, if we're talking Arkham, Liara is more trying to be Batman himself - super badass driven by vengeance cool hero dude, and super smart and knows every secret about everyone, and super awesome unbeatable badass in combat, and uber science whiz who perfeclty understands every experiment and tech she comes across and can pull a solution to any problem out of her ass after five minutes of study.

... and he's actually toned down in the Arkham games from his comic self.

(It's possible I have uncommonly strong Feelings about DC comics. )

Science has shown Shepard is Ms. Marvel.

Science or sharing voice actors. Shepard may also be Superman, since I saw a fabulous piece of art to that effect with Shepard in a Superman costume and Garrus as Batman.

Of course, that leaves ManShep out in the rain.

I guess it really depends on whose writing Diana.

I came into DC pretty late (and haven't been following it recently) but more recently (maybe pre-Flashpoint - I haven't been following) she's has gotten a little dark and quite pragmatic like our Miss Lawson. I guess that's where I'm steaming that from rather then her compassionate, peaceful, Goddess of Truth side. My bad. :pinched:

And as a side-note...Jack = Huntress? Just a thought.

In a game where even the most Paragon character kills people, the fact that he kills doesn't mean as much. Garrus is Space Batman because Batman is the most iconic, coolest non-super-powered vigilante. The Punisher isn't meme-worthy.

Back on-topic, Khalisah al-Jilani is space J. Jonah Jameson.

Oh. Ooooooh. That explains it.

Perhaps the best way to put this: post-Gail Simone Wonder Woman is to the last sixty years of Wonder Woman as the ending of Mass Effect 3 is to the rest of the series that came before. (Not actually bad comics in and of itself, but the only way to miss the point of Wonder Woman harder would be to serialize a Gor novel.) As someone who's been a fan of the character for a long time and read and loved a good chunk of that sixty years, the recent stuff is, to me, just about exactly so unreal and nonsensical and unrelated to the actual Wondy franchise that it reads like some kind of bizarre mind control dream. It doesn't really factor into any serious discussion of who Diana is or what she stands for.

(Honestly, the ending to ME3 is crap but I was never once actually upset by it. I am far, far too used to that kind of treatment from the Big Two.)

As for Huntress, Helena Bertinelli was very much Garrus - very much impatient with The Man and His Rules but nevertheless bound very strongly to her own sense of honor, and driven to bloody vengeance out of a strong sense of duty and love for her dead. She then met someone who had her back, gave her a place and a mission, taught her to chill out a bit and helped her achieve her full potential as a gold-plated badass that other heroes respect. She's even a sniper (her big skill is comic-book accuracy with a crossbow). Jack has the edge, vendetta and rebelliousness, but is too chaotic and doesn't have that Catholic/turian guilt driving her for me to quite see the match.

But then again that Huntress is gone, and I have no idea what they've done with the rebooted Helena Wayne.

Not sure if we're keeping this strictly Marvel or DC now (I see Garrus as more like The Punisher too) [smilie]http://social.bioware.com/images/forum/emoticons/tongue.png[/smilie]

Anyway...I kinda see Miranda more as Talia Al Ghul than Catwoman, although I can see similarities across both.

No a Paragon tries to bring the criminals to justice, back to the authorities. Thats very batman.

Garrus just shoots them, usually in an attempt at irony if you read the LotSB terminal.
