hi my nvidia 8800 ultra (pny) died yesterday looks like the v-ram went.
but
anyway im looking at new cards and the hd 4890 vapor x 1gb.

it looks like a good card slightly more powerful than my old card plus good price.
so
any one got this card or had experience with it. and if so whats it
like. plus any other card you can think of been better and priced
equally i only have about 150 pounds.
is the ATI hd 4890 vapor x 1gb a good card

It does look like the best performing card currently at it's price range but your 8800 picked a terrible time to die (is it still under warranty? which such a high-end card I'd check whether it's a three year one). Nvidia look set to release the successor to the 8800/GTX200 series within six months and no doubt the price of the ATI 5000 series will plummit in a month or two. Plus if DirectX 11 turns out to be as wonderful as some people are hinting you might regret not going for a 5000-series card.
I've got a 4850 and it's a good card, it runs a bit hot but they fixed that in the die used for the 4890 and 4770.

ye just had a look and glad i asked because i forgot about dx11 think the 5770 looks best.
