Hi, this is my first time posting, but I've been reading the forums quite a bit and have noticed that a number of people are experiencing a lot of issues with framerates and long load times. Not everybody, obviously, but enough to be concerned.

System Specs:
Processor: Intel Core i5-750 2.66ghz quad core
Video Card: XFX Radeon 4870 1gb
RAM: 4gb G.Skill DDR3 1600
OS:Windows 7 Ultimate
Motherboard: Gigabyte P55-UD3R
DirectX:10.1
ATI Driveres: Catalyst 9.11 (recently updated; still having issues)

I'm noticing that I have 100% CPU usage whenever I play the game and that my framerates -- while not totally unplayable -- are not what I'd expect. At first I thought it might be the game requirements being very steep, but like others, I've noticed no change whatsoever between having the graphics totally maxed out and the graphics at their absolute minimums.

I play on a 23" Acer monitor at 1920x1080 and have stuttering issues, general unresponsiveness, and choppy cutscenes. I'm not sure if I'm doing something wrong, but imagine my surprise when my roommate booted it up on his macbook pro running windows 7 and the game runs smooth as anything. (He's on a dual core with an integrated graphics card.)

I've tried the fixes; rolled back video card drivers, did a reinstall of the game, reinstalled directX, tried setting the affinity to only one core, underclocked the GPU, and still nothing. Is there anybody that can help me? Has anything been said by EA, Bioware, or ATI about what the issue is? I like the game a lot, I'm just a little frustrated that I can't enjoy it the way it's meant to be. Any and all help is appreciated. Thanks

Hi,

I also encountered serious problems, and also I am quite sure it's not GPU related. Like you pointed out.

I just finished the game, for the first time. And was waiting for the final cutscene loading. When it showed, frames just dropped, the longer it played the lower the frames, till the FPS where 0.ish.

DA got stuck somehow, ProcessExplorer showed that 2 threads where consuming pretty much all CPU cycles (DAOrigins.exe!GSysFile::GetFileStat+0xCB670).

Well, that sucks...first play through and than this :(

Same here, I could run the game fine, but since the 102 patch I can't get through a single cutscene without my frame rate dropping below 2 secs per frame.

Sure would like to at least see a "sorry about the issues folks we're working on them" kind of post from BW.

I saw a post claming that older ATI drivers where working properly, If I recall correctly it was the 9.6 or 9.7 drivers that where working for most.

@sirchet
Hmm, I really cant pinpoint those problems to the 1.02 patch. Are you sure?
Because I just started a new game and everything was fine.

For me its just the 'ending', like on the way to the archdemon the game would stop like every 2min for 10seconds - just stop - and than continue like nothing happened.

Wouldn't help me, I have a nVidia card.

Weird enough, following this forum, and trying what is described here, actually solved my problems.
