I remember a thread about this same topic happening soon after launch, but I'm posting it again. Bioware, please fix the main menu loading bug. I have never EVER  played a game where the main menu screen would break. I think it has something to do with the loading priorities- not that I'm some kind of tech person, mind you. I had to restart my playstation twice and restart ME3 five times just to get to a point where I could play it today. 15 minutes to access a main menu?!  Ridiculous!!!  It happened a lot this week and I just gave up several times and played something else because I didn't feel like restarting my console.

When it works correctly it says this in the following order:
1) 'checking downloadable content'
2) 'checking saved games'

When working right, this process doesn't take very long.

When it loads WRONG it says this everytime:
1) 'checking downloadable content'
2) 'checking saved games'
3) 'checking downloadable content' (yet again)

...And it says #3 FOREVER until I quit the game and restart and that doesn't always work anymore. I'm afraid I'll get to a point where I won't be able to  launch it at all. And reinstalling things does nothing.

The most common triggers for this bug I've encountered are:

1) Signing into my PSN account BEFORE launching ME3. Note- the PSN account (as in Playstation Store) NOT necesarily the EA account. (I can't tell if they're the same, my passwords are the exact same length for both lol) This breaks my main menu EVERY time 100% for me.
2)  Launching ME3 after playing a different game without resetting the console first. (offline)
3)  Launching ME3 when I have already been logged into my EA account after playing a different EA game, such as Kingdoms of Amalur.

#2 & #3 are the least common triggers and it doesn't always cause the bug 100% of the time, but it has occurred  enough for me to notice a pattern.

About #3- its possilbe that it may be gltiching because I didn't reset the console, but there are other games that I've been able to swap out of and jump into ME3 with no problem. But when I've been logged into the EA servers on KOAR its a sure fire way for me to trigger the menu bug.  I haven't played KOAR in a while so I didn't test the theory that much.

Sometimes there is no clear trigger at all. Sometimes I turn on my console and launch ME3 and it STILL GLITCHES. This seems like something that should be relatively simple to patch, so I'm rather annoyed that it hasn't been taken care of yet especially since this bug was discussed in the forums soon after the game was released. I hope Bioware is reading this and will develop a fix. Thank you for your time.

Update: Enabling 'Auto Log-in' in the online settings can prevent lock up in many cases. Note: Logging in will update your current state of readiness.

Same for me.
#1 always causes the menu to freeze at 'checking downloadable content', and it goes nowhere. Have to restart the console and start ME3 without signing in to PSN. If I connect to the EA servers in game (by pressing 'triangle') then I'm fine.

The main point is that I shoudn't have to do any of this - it should just work. I'm guessing it's something in the new patch as this has only happened to me since I installed the patch.

I'm getting this problem at lot myself, but it's only started happening within the last couple of months or so.

This is really frustrating, does the ME3 PS3 version get any kind of maintenance at all?

This only started for me after the Extended Cut DLC.

Starting the game before signing in to the PSN fixes it completely, however.

Yea, I can never start the game if I'm logged into the PSN.

Once u get in, go to extras and online. Turn it to auto connect to origin. I ran into the endless "downloadable content" thing when I was changing stuff and turned off the auto connect. Seems without that setting on, u need to be signed off psn to get the game to load.

This is usually how it works for me.  If I don't have auto login enabled for origin it freezes up, though I've found that if I sit at the main title screen (the one with earth and all the flaming debris) until the EA and Bioware logos disappear and hit start right after the large piece of debris goes outside the bottom of the screen it will work most of the time without auto login to origin enabled.

Yes, I was trying to avoid having to enable that option.  The point of my post is to (hopefully) bring attention to the fact that their menu is just plain flawed. You shouldn't have to auto-login to NOT have your menu crash. This can mess up your readiness if you don't do multiplayer often.  But yes, for people still viewing this thread if you enable "Auto Log-in" in the Online Settings area, it will prevent the lock up. Every once in a while I am able to cancel out before I am logged in. Its inconsistent that way. Go figure.

I came here to complain about this same exact issue that Bioware has still not addressed after months.  However, your solution to enable auto logging on to EA has finally fixed it for me.  Thank you soooo much. :wizard:
