Just got done with another play through for my first Femshep. Played a infiltrator on Insanity difficulty and finished the game having gone from level 1 to 58. I still think the combat was ridiculously easy since enemies were pretty much predictable.

I think the hardest part "might" have been the final mission on pinnacle station. On insanity it's just ridiculous to have to try to survive 5 minutes on that map. I was even using wrex and ashley set up w/ all their defensive talents capped.

Eventually after 2 deaths I figured out a cheap spot by 1 of the turrets where wrex would block the path. All the enemies would charge up at us and right when they got to wrex they would get stuck and i'd send them flying w/ an explosive round of out my sniper rifle.

ME1 Combat is so broken. Biotics are effectively god mode, as well as the awful cover system and underpowered guns. ME3 is so much more balanced and intuitive that it gets mistaken for being easier, when its is simply much smarter,

It's the mental endurance of shooting someone for 10mins straight that gets me. Cannot do ME1 Insanity.

ME2 was a huge **** on insanity, I found 1 quite easy, being on my OP one shot kill with a sniper rifle level 60 guy :)

Don't even get me started. ME1 has a huge challenge compared to the other games. On my first playthough, I was on casual. I just beat two missions without dying, and I was like "Come on baby I got this!" and cranked up the difficulty to normal, and I get massacred. RAGE QUIT!

ME2 and 3 on the highest difficulty wasn't that hard for me. ME1 on the other was just torture though, for some reason the Geth or waves or mercs always had those kamikaze guys that walk up to you shooting a shotgun or walk past you and get into cover behind you. Plus combining powers wasn't as fluent or epic which made the later 2 more easier.

ME1&2 taught me the importance of cover and even with the glitchy issues I had with them via Steam. It was love @1st byte! But I don't even want to think playing through ME 1 or 2 again. 20 times each is my limit!!!

5 pages in and not one "Enemies everywhere!" or "I will destroy you!"?
Come on.

ME1 had as large flaws as ME3 has plot holes but the first redeems itself with brilliantly dorky world-building (I mean that as a very high compliment) and the second redeems itself by its great moments of emotional impact built on that world.

I feel the insanity in ME1&ME3 were cake walks, but in ME2 it was a pretty hard challenge. In ME1 my immunity literally finished charging JUST as the effects wore off so I could just spam it non stop allowing me to pretty much w+m1 the whole thing. Not sure what happened in ME3, either they dumb down the game or my person opinion they made the combat incredibly fluid however at lvl60 you do become pretty OP which isn't necessarily a bad thing.

ok, so am I the only person who had problems with my weapons getting permanently overheated in ME1??

In regards to difficulty however, ME3 is child's play compared to ME1.  If you strayed away from the primary story arc in ME1 there was no TELLING what kind of hurt they were going to lay at your door.  The transport full of biotic F-tards comes to mind.

That being said, I never could do a second playthrough, since my weapons would get instantly overheated by enemy abilities and NEVER cool down.  Little hard to kill the enemy when you're a soldier with no gun in that game.

Yeah. In ME1 you had to watch your ***. ME1 made you feel acomplished after finishing missions and you had good reason to. On my first ME2 playthrough, I was nearly dissapointed at the easiness. I missed the kamakazies, they got my heart going. Man, those were the good old days. Especially the Mako driving.

ME1: epic, skill making game
ME2: not nearly as hard, was just longer, but still epic
ME3: the most epic, but a walk in the park (with the exception of the last level where you to have to fire the missles)

I found it pretty easy as a vanguard (on hardcore, never tried insanity)

In fact, the soldier is the worst class for an insanity playthrough in Mass Effect when starting from level 1.

Yeah. I was going to post something similar. Just play a soldier (or a class that gets immunity) and end game it reduces damage by 80%...

ME1 is a broken mess. It's endearing and nostalgic but as for the quality of the game it sucks.
