LOL - Fenris' one "joke" about Varric's chest hair and Anders' and Merrill's barbs about Sebastian's armor and his faith weren't really jokes. They were pretty nasty passive/aggressive insults that we were allowed to laugh at as a third party. At least that's the way I always took them.

How I wish I could throw pretty nasty passive/aggressive insults to Anders/Fenris/Gamlen. Instead everyone thinks Hawke is a clown.
Sigh. Broken character is broken character. Well it's a good thing, I guess because I don't have the problem to view Hawke as NPC in DA 3 should he/she ever become the non playable character.

That's an idea. Harry Potter as companion in DA3! He has the perfect insight on the mage v templar conflict and knows the true evil of magic!
