Because he most celebrated bioware rpg and for that matter infinity engine rpg's have had multiplayer... and people loved to play the game with their friends back then.

A mute main character seems a little on the old side. Given that Bioware are also making a fully voiced mmo.. You'd think they could of got two VAs to voice the male and female lines. Seems out dated, given that ME has voice acting.

Guess that only one background for humans (Side mage, clearly) kinda sucks too.

- Lack of multiplayer has to be the biggest. Not a multiplayer main campaign, but the ability to play multiplayer modules or create Persistent Worlds.

- Character models. I specifically mean body shape, particularly for females is... off. It isn't so great a distraction that I can't play, but it's there.

- Having starting skills and talents selected for me.

1000 times this. No multiplayer is almost reason enough not to buy the game.. Its what killed Black and White 2 for me, for example.

I loved the persistent worlds in Nwn, if this truely was Biowares next big thing, you'd think it would have multiplayer. Maybe it'll be added later.. But I doubt it, very much.

Not being able to decide what skills and talents I want in the begining

The Graphics look lackluster in some places but wonderful in others, lack of continuity graphically

the specialization fields worry me just because so little is known about them and if there really are only 6 (2 for each path Mage, Rouge, Fighter) then i will be very disappointed

There are four specializations for each base class.

 First off this thread doesn't have to be all negative. I would just like to know what are somethings you do not like about the game from what you have seen so far.

For me it would be that the main character is mute, and also the in game pausing during a battle. I thought it took a lot away from KOTOR. I'm glad it its optianal this time around, I know I will end up using it though.

for the record, the pausing aspect of KOTOR was optional too, i almost never used it.  anyway, anything i've seen and not like has been pretty unimportant. things like the bowstring issue, dirty brown teeth, and lack of a few kinds of weapons (1H warhammers, spears/polearms, etc)

I agree with the bow lack of bowstrings that drives me crazy.  But its minor and I can live with it.

Wait... It drives you crazy, but it's minor? Wow, I don't want to be around you when you find a major fault in the game! :)

I don't like the blood splatter on the characters, but I can turn that off, so no biggie. :)

I don't like minor and insignificant things like lack of day/night cycles and hand design. For instance, Zevran's hand really, really freaks me out.

Also, realism. I hope it's just like that in those videos, but you know, no matter what you're wearing, if the dragon grabs you and chews on you for 10 seconds, I don't really expect you to stand up.

A few things so far:

  • The NPC sellers. It's been mentioned by devs that we will be able to purchase DLC in-game from certain NPCs. Some people think this is great, as you won't need to exit the game while paying and downloading. But since I won't buy anything in-game, the NPC sellers are useless to me. I would like to turn them off;
  • The lack of a Mysterious stranger origin. I understand that Bioware want this game to have meaningful origins, and the anonimous hero wouldn't make much sense, but it could have been a good start point for modders to make their own origins, in my opinion;
  • The inexpressive faces of characters in combat. Not that they have to be mad and angry in every fight, but they seem so... relaxed. Even in Kotor, chars' faces changed a bit when they wielded their weapons;
  • It's still October Image IPB

My only dissapointment right now is the lack of strings on the bows.

Seriously, is it soo hard to make archers just a tad more realistic on those games?

I think the blood splatter is a bit much, but I believe I read somewhere that it is able to be turned off.

Combat animations don't look fantastic either aside from the bosses.

Naelven, there's definitely a gore toggle, you can also easily get the blood off by taking your armor of and on, switching areas, or having Dog lick it off(ew), if you don't want to turn it off completely.

WoW would be massively multiplayer, there's a difference. Wanting to play with a friend does not not equate to wanting to play with, say.. Texas.

Granted, I don't think it's something worth not buying the game over. But still, I can see why it would bother some people who have played previous Bioware games with friends.

You answered your own question. You don't understand why people want MP support because you have no idea what it's like to play a small party role-playing game (e.g. Baldur's Gate 1/2, icewind Dale 1/2, Neverwinter Nights 1/2) in co-operative multiplayer mode. If you knew what it was like, I don't think you'd be comparing it to WoW.

So, that's one thing that I am going to miss.

Another is the exploration of the wilderness areas - fighting your way to the edge of the map, discovering a new region for the first time (getting turned to stone and reloading the last save... good times, and don't tell me this didn't happen to you BG players, you know who you are).

ETA I also miss polearms, halberds, spears etc.

I'm having a hard time coming to grips with Morrigan, Zevran, Leliana and Alistair as characters written for an adult audience. They have modern attitudes that push the cool factor in your face. For a game made for a higher age bracket, I do expect some verisimilitude in the NPCs. I'm just not getting it with these four.

1st and the biggest. For me what defines my character before anything else is a class. I can be flexible about races, gender and any other back story issues, but I'm a mage player. I don't like playing a warrior period, don't care for sneaky types either. Yes I tried it all, I'm a looooong time RPG player and I know what I like. In DA:O you have 5 choices for warrior, 5 for rogue... And 1... yep, whole 1 choice for a mage. Which makes it pretty much a one origin game for me.

2nd I don't like what they did with elves. Yep I know they wanted to be original, and did what all cool kids do this days - made a dying enslaved and generally leveled with dirt race of scrawny, pointy eared humans. Do I need to list the amount of books, movies and now games that do that? Actually I can't remember any elf appearance in the last 5 yeas that is not in this context (and don't mention any LOTR side products, it's still a copy of Tolkiens ideas and not a new thing).

Now I'm not a fan of Tolkien elves, I'd rather see a less Cristian influenced, darker version, but I'd like them truly to feel like another species, I don't want them to look human, act human and I'd prefer if they couldn't produce an offspring with humans to. I woun't be saying anything about dwarfs for now, at last an effort was made there it seams.

Anything else I can deal with, and what I can't deal with will be fixable when toolset comes out :D
