I don't suppose this applies if the father was a Grey Warden.

But if the mother was a Grey Warden, the child shares the blood of the mother. The mother would have Darkspawn blood tainting her so would the child be born blighted and a Grey Warden too?

On the whole, since it is so difficult for a Grey Warden to conceive, the question is largely academic. However, going by the dark ritual, even the father must pass on some degree of taint but how this manifests itself as the child grows older is presumably something that will be revealled in a later game or book.
There is also the theory circulating that Alistair was really the son of Maric and Grey Warden Fiona. If this was so then apparently he was free of the taint, although Fiona had apparently been "cured" of the taint to the extent that she no longer felt the calling, so if he was conceived after this occurred, then possibly that accounted for this.
Most women infected by darkspawn blood (as opposed to undertaking the joining) become broodmothers and it is suspected that this would be the fate of female grey wardens if they don't die in battle before then. This would suggest that the offspring of female grey wardens would be tainted in some way.

Since when is it a rumor that Alistair's mother was anyone other than stated in the game? That person being a servant. If so, then that sucks because his sister's family was a fairly significant part of his character.

Though, if it was in a book or something, then please fill me in.

Also, as in any fantasy-fiction universe, everything is possible even after it is explicitly stated as such. So, until that exact situation happens in an official story, we'll never know.

Or it could say somewhere in Origin's codex.

It's in the Calling book that Fiona (an Orlesian elven grey warden mage) had Maric's son. It was not outright stated it was Alistair but a lot of fans on the board believe this was his origin and the servant woman was just a story made up to hide the truth of his parentage.

According to David Gaider (on the boards here when this was asked a couple years ago), a grey warden can have a child (even a woman) just the fertility rate is low IF the other parent is untainted. And the taint does not pass through the placenta/umbilical cord just as it protects the infant from a lot of the diseases mom may catch. Not fool proof obviously since German measles can cause birth defects or taking Tetracycline can discolor a developing fetus' teeth, but apparently it is taint proof (this from Mr Gaider), ensuring the child would normally be born healthy and untainted.

Morrigan's ritual was something special that created a baby with the taint so as to draw the AD's soul to it. Had she conceived normally, the baby would have been untainted.
