The design is epic, good sir! It reminds me of the guns from early science fiction media, which has a certain charm.

isn't the Avenger technically Volus?  IIRC it's made by Elkoss Combine?

It.......LIVES! /thunder /lightning /cats & dogs living together.

You have summoned me, and I have appeared.

Don't lie, Loki, you just wish I'd died.

Anyway, saw the picture Soja, and once more kudos to you.  It wasn't precisely what I had imagined, but you know.  Looks like you crossed the Reegar with the Arc Pistol on a Vindicator chassis, which I really can't argue with conceptually.  It'd be nifty if there would be like arcing energy bolts when the weapon was unholstered as you moved around the battlefield.  Om nom nom Tesla Gun.  But that's something which can't be reasonably communicated in a picture as such.

If there was one critique, I'd say close the top portion instead of leaving it open, so that it looks like its housing the arc projector mechanisms.

I'll update the Arc Rifle to add the picture.

I wanted to leave the top open to give it a unique signature look. To many weapons in-game have the top portion closed like my design of the Gladius, Mattock, Vindicator, etc. Perhaps we could have electricity jumping in between the gap when charging the weapon and firing? That would look pretty awesome, and would be like connecting the two generators on top.

Well, the Arc Pistol/Arc design already has a signature look, so I don't think that's as much of a concern.  By borrowing from the Reegar, it definitely keeps the quarian feel as well.  If anything, there should be a conduit between them, as it would make a bit more sense (because lolmasseffectfieldsarelegit) technically.

I do fully support lightning tesla gun effect.  Its something that should probably be on the Reegar as well (arcs jumping between the three pylons) but alas I think they'd avoid it to conserve video mem.  We'll just have to do with moar lights which can go red when slapping the AP mod on it.

Edit: I suppose I mean a third rail akin to the Reegar, below the open top, but looking at it again, I guess there pretty much is a connection between the two, so its all good.  If it were shifted into 3D, I'd imagine there actually being four parts to the top arc generators, two on each side of the gone angled out diagonally from the chassis.  Probably 45 degrees, enough to give seperation.

Only other reason to close the top is to give a top rail to mount the scope or act as a hand grip.  No place to mount the scope currently.

i would really love to see the N7 Assault Rifle Virtue, its not a real gun in the game, i made it up...
i was thinking that it should be a light machine gun, 150/300 ammo, rapid fire and accurate if fired from cover... a decent damage, the Virtue I is as strong an Avenger X... it would be an N7 weapon making it impossible to obtain other than the Bounty Weekends, what do you guys think??

So, which faction is in dire need of a weapon, particularly an SMG? Don't know if this is particularly a great idea:

The SMG's rate of fire will slow as it is fired and the weapon heats up. However, as it generates more heat, the accuracy of the shots will increase. In a way, it is like a reversed GPSMG. Base accuracy is similar to the Revenant, but over time adjusts to Indra-esque accuracy. Base rate of fire is equivalent to Geth Pulse Rifle, but reduces to Phaeston ROF.

Unsure as to give it damage scaling over time, and the duration it takes to reach max accuracy/min ROF, but the basic concept is there. Any thoughts? Also, which faction could use an SMG?

You know, I saw this thread's title, and had this thought of Richard Machowicz doing a segment for the weapons of Mass Effect.

You would be correct. and since Volus nation is a turian protectorate... :P

whoever calls them alliance guns has no idea what they are talking about ^_ ^

Edit: you would not believe how often people dont bother looking at the little details about the gun info. below is just one i had to fix in this same thread 2-3 pages ago.

The fixed list by yours truly

Mercenary Kishock Harpoon Gun: Mercenary Sniper Rifle Batarian sniper rifle

M-3 Predator: Standard Heavy Pistol Elkos combine/volus
M-4 Shuriken: Standard Submachine Gun Elkos combine/Volus
M-5 Phalanx: Alliance Heavy Pistol
M-6 Carnifex: Mercenary Heavy Pistol The wording and design would point to a human origin, most likely Devlon industries

M-8 Avenger: Standard Assault Rifle Elkos combine/Volus
M-9 Tempest: Mercenary Submachine Gun ERCS(Turian design)
M-11 Wraith: Mercenary Shotgun
M-12 Locust: Alliance / Mercenary Submachine Gun(Most likely Devlon though)
M-13 Raptor: Alliance / Turian Sniper Rifle
M-15 Vindicator: Mercenary Assault Rifle ERCS turian hence turian design.
M-22 Eviscerator: Mercenary Shotgun Human developed, adopted by cerberus.
M-23 Katana: Standard Shotgun Human design (Ariake Tech)
M-25 Hornet: Cerberus Submachine Gun
M-27 Scimitar: Mercenary Shotgun Ariake tech again.
M-29 Incisor: Law Enforcement Sniper Rifle
M-37 Falcon: Alliance Assault Rifle
M-76 Revenant: Mercenary Assault Rifle Upgraded vindicator, also has the same stock design = turians most likely.
M-77 Paladin: Law Enforcement Heavy Pistol
M-92 Mantis: Standard Sniper Rifle Human/Devlon industries
M-96 Mattock: Alliance
Assault Rifle Colonial(no mention of alliance, but a mention it is an
upgrade to avenger and it was used by colonial militias, also
considering it is heavily adopted by cerberus, which as we know, adopt
things that alliance doesnt)
M-97 Viper: Mercenary Sniper Rifle Made by rosenkov, human design.
M-98 Widow: Geth / Quarian / Alliance Armali Sniper Rifle
M-99 Saber: Alliance Assault Rifle
M-300 Claymore: Krogan Shotgun not originally designed for the krogans, but due to heavy recoil, marketed for them, Human Design.
M-358 Talon: Cerberus Heavy Pistol
N7 Crusader: Alliance Shotgun
N7 Eagle: Alliance Heavy Pistol
N7 Hurricane: Alliance Submachine Gun
N7 Valiant: Alliance Sniper Rifle
Quarian Arc Pistol: Quarian Heavy Pistol
Quarian Reegar Carbine Shotgun: Quarian Shotgun
Salarian Scorpion: Salarian Heavy Pistol
Turian Krysae Sniper Rifle: Turian Sniper Rifle
Turian Phaeston: Turian Assault Rifle

Fixed a couple of things for you since we are talking about weapons Image IPB

I would kill for an auto shotgun, or at least a true semi-automatic shotgun that fires as quickly as you can pull the trigger.

Widow isn't actually Geth.

^This, it's a pre-morning war Quarian design, modified by Geth then again copied and modified by the Systems Alliance.

Lokiwithrope wrote...
Closest thing I could find. The Widow's description says "Their goal was to retain the geth weapon's considerable firepower while reducing its recoil, so that the gun could be fired without breaking a nonsynthetic's arm."

It's a copy of the weapon Shepard brought the Alliance that the geth(Legion) used. In the Geth Figher mission on Rannoch you see its actual origin.

There is a cutscene in ME3 that shows a Geth holding a Widow at a point in the timeline where it would have been impossible for the Geth to have created it, which means that it was originally most likely developed by the Quarians unless they imported it from somewhere else.

marcustheMezz wrote...

I'd love to see a double-barrel shotgun that'll fire both its shots as fast as you can pull the trigger. Or upgrading the wraith to do that instead of its current slow-firing uselessness would be cool too.

I agree, but skip the double barrel part.  Just give us a shotgun that can fire as quickly as we can pull the trigger.  If you limit the ammo to just two shots you have something that is almost functionally identical to the claymore.
