 Anyone believing otherwise is a fool. Control allows the civilized races of the galaxy to rebuild their losses and, indeed, even exceed their former glory under the guidance of humanity's potent Reaper fleet. With infinite resources and power, no race of savages like the Yahg, Vorcha, or, worst of all, the Krogan, will ever be able to threaten the galaxy again, as their existence will no longer be endured  Synthetics will never again threaten the sanctity of organic life as they will all be crushed under the might of humanity's Reaper fleet. It is greater than destroy which only results in the destruction of the most revolutionary assets to humanity in history: the Reapers. The only positive outcome is that destroy does away with the abominable geth and EDI. Synthesis is also an affront to the reason and dignity of humanity and civilized organic life as a whole. It would sully this dignity by transforming precious organics into souless, half-synthetic monstrosities. I could see some value in using the Reaper fleet not to destroy the Yahg, Vorcha, and Krogan, but making them slaves instead. So you make a good point in my opinion.
