Destroy, since that felt most like what I was trying to do to begin with. Since anderson just got killed by TIM, I wasnt gonna side with his thinking at the end. Synthesis got me saying "That's even possible?", after which I promptly decided it wasnt what I was setting out to do anyway. The connection to Saren's preaching at the end of ME1 didnt occur to me til later.

The situation didnt really allow for a full pros/cons list... I was still wondering who that stupid kid was, why he looked like that and whether or not he was a fraud, a liar or a joke.

Synthesis.
I was baffled by all the crap too. Just kept walking forward thinking: "wtf was that... whoops!"

Same here. I eventually replayed the final mission and chose destroy, although unfortunately my war assests had decreased and I didn't get to see the infamous breath scene.
However, it was still very hard to choose destroy. I initally dismissed that option because I didn't like the idea of destroying all synthetic life... just seemed silly, but at least it supposedly destroys the reapers.

I spent over an hour deciding, meta gaming, tearfully calling my boyfriend and asking for help...
My first choice was destroy, he advised synthesis, did synthesis - screamed OH HELL NO. Cried a bit more and picked destroy, taking solace in seeing my Shepard take a breath. I consider my first choice destroy!

Seriously, over an hour of drama and phone calls to people asking for advice, this was a big moment! XD!

I'm not destroying the Geth, as they're my favourite species in Mass Effect.

So I went with synthesis at first. It seemed to be the "f*** it all" option to me. Then I went with Control. In my mind, I commanded the Reapers to rebuild the Mass Relays. Then I sent them all flying into the nearest sun. I destroyed the Reapers without other synthetic casualties. :D

Middle of a night and i am standing on the top of that stupid room considering 3 options, ired after rushing the ending - and nw confused. So when catalyst offered destruction, at first i t was way to go, but then he mentioned that geth/edi will get destroyed aswell soi just looked for something else, control was out of question period, and synthesis sounded least evil. So i picked synthesis expecting something else to happen, like a uhm shepard surviving somehow or something....

I think Control is the best option, but my very first choice was Destroy and I would still pick destroy based on the information you're given, due to several reasons:

1) At that point in the game, using reaper tech has NEVER worked successfully, or without problems. You're essentially playing with fire, this from the outset turned me off from picking control or synthesis.

2) Control and Synthesis were two unforseen solutions that could do ANYTHING. With destroy you at least know what is going to happen, for better or for worse, the reapers will be destroyed. The catalyst changed the rules of the game too late for Shepard to change his mind.

3) The whole synthetic genocide thing never really sunk in for me. The catalyst was ambiguous enough and didn't talk for too long, I was still trying to rationalize what the **** was going on, as those last five minutes were so bizarre. Giving Geth free will then destroying them is definitely a no-no, but that conclusion never really entered my mind first time through, and it's understandable, you're on the edge of death after being blasted by Harbinger, Anderson and TIM just died, catalyst didn't seem to be working and then you ascend into this weird environment and you are greeted by this weird ghost-like child. In that situation you don't really have the capacity or time to go full-blown philosopher mode, you go back to your primal instincts, those being "These guys want to kill all life, we can stop them indefinitely by destroying them, problem solved."

Again, I still think Control is the best choice of the three, but in all honestly destroy is the only option that I would take in that exact same situation because you're given limited information.

edit: I still didn't get the shepard breathing scene due to thinking I'd actually be able to increase galactic readiness through single-player. I avoided ALL information on ME3 and never went on the MP to make sure things never got spoiled, so at no point did I have a clue on how to increase galactic readiness. So despite having 7000 MS, I never got that scene, that tarnished things above all else when I later found out about it

Destroy the first time, and destroy ever since.

The lesser of three evils.

Synthesys.... by accident, I didn't understood well how to make the final choice, didn't see the two catwalks at the sides..... so I just walked towards the light..... when the screen started filling with green color I just thought "Hey, when did I decided this?"

Yeaah, the same happend to me. I hate that. I merely wanted to find out more about each option so I just started to walk... and then... cutscene... and the end... In the next playthrough I chose "Destroy" option.

Destroy because it's an option presented by the star kid who apparently is okay with you destroying his entire race.

Same here.Been the same since my very first choice. Actually chose the other just to see what they looked like, but my true choice has always been destroy.

Synthesis, mostly for curiosity's sake, and that I didn't see it coming, because face it, it's BS. I was hoping it'd be something actually cool and ineresting, but nope.

Anyway. Gotta love how the colors of the bars in poll are B/R/G. Too bad that R and B are not with their correct endings. XD

Destroy. Because Shepard lives and Reapers die.

Destroy.

Neither of the others seemed like reliable solutions. The Reapers are programmed to destroy synthetics as well, and preserve organic life. I didn't see why turning us all into Human-Cylon hybrids in Synthesis was supposed to stop them killing everything to make way for new organic life, just as they always do. Same for Control. If the Reapers are free-willed machines, as the game constantly tells us they are, then they might change their mind in the future and rebel against Reaper Shepard. Destroy is the only thing that would kill them outright and genuinely end them as a problem.

Mine was destroy because I thought that it will simply destroy or shutdown reapers. Then when i saw the ending i went back and played through the last bit 2 more times to see if there was anything different. But alas my hopes were totally shattered.

Seeing how I disliked the RGB choices, I closed my eyes, spun my Shepard around 5 times and then pressed w, wherever he ended up is what I chose.

Destroy.
I was angry and I didn't care what either of the other options did. I wanted someone to PAY for what I just had to sit and listen to. I powered through the game and never heard any complaints so I was not prepared in the least for what was in store. All I knew was something had to die, and I couldn't shoot the kid.

I also got locked in front of control so I couldn't change my mind, dirty bastard.

Synthesis. I wanted to see how the beam looks like at the bottom and I didn't know that there was an autopilot for Shepard. She died and all the beings in the galaxy got turned into husks/cyborgs, because I was too curious... Epic.
Since then, Destroy.
