Synthesis. I was so caught up in thinking "wtf?!?!" that I just ran to the center.

Me too. I wanted to pick destroy, but accidentally picked synthesis. Must have been indoctrinated.

Got it right second time though.

Destroy and control swapped colors in the graph. The way it should have been lol

This was totally unintentional but makes it that much funnier.  I put it in order from left to right, Control being first.  Had I known it would make the first one red, I would've switched places.  Haha

srsly why are these polls still being made Destroy always wins.

I'm not trying to find out which one "wins", I want to know legitimately how many people actually chose the ending they support the first time around.  I want to know what people were thinking the FIRST TIME they got to the end and were overwhelmed with all the information.  I'm sorry you're upset that more people chose Destroy though.

I was all like: Okay, I am a 100% Paragon, let's see.

Control - Illusive Man, nope, trying to control the Reapers would just end with being controlled by them, Shepard is just a human after all
Synthesis - uhm ... Saren?! That's exactly what he wanted and we know it ended: Being controlled by the Reapers
Destroy - Anderson + The goal we've been fighting for over three games. Obviously the only right choice

I picked Destroy the first time. Did anyone else pick synthesis afterward out of curiosity?

Destroy seemed like the "lesser evil" to me. After all my Shepard spent three games trying to stop the Reapers.
Control you just postponed the Reapers' cicle, who can say they will never come back? Besides i never agreed with TIM.
And Synthesis is so nonsense i found it kinda insulting.

What if you went back and changed it because you got confused and chose a different option from the one you had wanted to choose? I was tired, it was early morning and give me a break, the stuff the Starchild spouts makes no sense and is hella confusing. I hadn't even understood the Mass Relays blew up in any case.

If you mean you chose the ending and then saw it and went back, then no, stick with the original one you went with.

If you mean you didn't get to the cutscene, started walking down one path and somehow ended up being able to choose another option before getting critical mission failure, then yes.

Think of the cutscene you saw as the end of the line.  That is your first choice.  I want what people chose the first time confused or not.  No cheating!  ;)

I was going to pick Synthesis in my next playthrough on my Renegade Shep, and I was thinking about it on my second playthrough for my Canon Shep who is a Paragon, but when I heard about how there was basically little to no difference in the endings other than cyborg people and long focus shots on EDI and Joker instead of my entire team and then, on top of that, I would have to watch my Shepard become disintegrated into green ectoplasm...yeah...I couldn't watch myself die (I saw myself as Shepard).

Destroy...........each and every time.

And I don't have to defend my choice.

Control, because I wasn't paying attention during the explanation and assumed blue = destroy.

Stopped playing. The minute I got to him, I didn't understand what the kid said, took too long and "critical mission failure".

Went online to find out what I missed and discovered the outrage. Have only turned it on to do the Turn it on and off thing for HTL. haven't chosen yet. I'm happiest with that choice.

I followed my orders. Destroy. But I nearly chose control by accident. Got the "crucible has been destroyed mission when I tried to back track. In retrospect that probably WAS the best outcome.

I had picked destroy in my head but since I was still trying to figure out what the hell was going on I ended up walking straight into synthesis.

I reluctantly went with synthesis. Control didn't seem right since I didn't trust anyone to actually control the Reapers. The whole point was to stop them permanently. Destroy didn't seem right either since it would kill the Geth that I had just helped. I didn't want synthesis either since it went against the concept of self-determination, but it seemed like the least terrible of the three. Ultimately, it doesn't matter though since they are each basically the same.

Blue...only by accident though. I hadn't decided yet so I thought I'd take a look around. Control was the first one I walked to so I could take a closer look, then i was stuck. :-/ Every time since....RED all the way. Screw the reapers and the catalyst!

it'd be interesting if there had been a +renegade or paragon score depending on which option you chose

OT: destroy. synthesis wasnt an option on my first playthrough, and control felt like a lie - like id be able to control the reapers?

Destroy. I wanted me and all the others to remain who we are. Too bad about the Geth and EDI. Rest in peace!

Destroy, because [insert reason as to why here].

How could people choose control or synthesis? We already killed the two figures supporting either one, and said they were crazy throughout it...

I finished the game at about 2am, after a marathon session, so I wasn't entirely clear about the options. I had purposely avoided all spoilers prior to playing ... but once I was presented with the 3 choices I caved and looked it up online, thinking there *must* be a catch to choosing Synthesis, as it was so obviously presented as the 'best' option. And I wanted to be able to save my Shepard, if possible. I found out, of course, that I couldn't regardless of what choice I'd made as I hadn't played any multiplayer yet. (That's a moan for another thread.)

So I chose Synthesis, since I couldn't save my Shepard anyway, and after making peace with the Geth I didn't really want to wipe them out. As soon as I saw her start to dissolve in the beam, I wished I'd chosen differently, and seeing Joker and Kaidan's glowing green eyes and circuit-board skin sealed it. It seemed like the best choice at face value, but when I started to think about it, even a bit, it just seemed more and more horrible. Later, once I'd built up my Readiness, I replayed the ending and went for Destroy - I feel better about it having chosen that, but I'll always remember how horrible I felt finishing the game the first time. :(

Hey, I felt bad too, and I chose destroy! I thought I had too low EMS or something, because my ending was so crap (although it was the one where Shep takes a breath). After the "buy DLC k?" message popped up, I went online to see how much I ****ed up, only to find out I did the best... My pain was slightly reliefed when I found out about the Indoctrination Theory, though.

After exploring the area a bit and shooting things, including the Catalyst, I walked toward Control and stood there for what felt like 5 minutes, then went back and chose Synthesis.

Here is the unedited recording.
