The Couslands are probably the most liberal family in Ferelden.

Why?

Well,
I decided to create a male character (after playing through all the
origins as a female character) and I decided that Corin Cousland would
be decidedly bicurious.  When given the chance, he decided to invite
Darrien up to his room later that night. (which is awesome because I
did not know you could have "fun" with Darrien as a male, like how
girls can have fun with Iona or vice versa).

So, I forget about
it and go find my brother like I'm suppose to.  My father tells me to
go to bed, but I stay and talk to my brother.  He teases me about
getting sent to bed early, and I tell him it's okay because there is
someone waiting for me.  Fergus's response?  He tells my male!Cousland to have fun with him, and if he hurts his little brother he'll beat him up.

Things that are awesome about this:
1. Fergus somehow magically knew about Darrien OR
2. He already knew/assumed my Cousland was gay.
3. He didn't care.
4. His biggest worry was that my heart would get broken and he'd have to beat Darrien up. XD

I don't know if this is a glitch or not, but it's pretty awesome.

Anyone else have fun stories like this?

Thedas seems to be a more sexually liberal world as a whole. This is not a bad thing.

I actually never got that impression to be honest, as far as Ferelden goes in the Thedas thing at least... especially since the two bisexual characters are from other countries. xD

Yeah, but they're dwarves and as a society keep very much to themselves.

Fergus told my female Cousland to enjoy Iona's company. I had to wonder how he knew, though. If we were dwarves, I'd swear he was spying on me.

It should be frowned upon more there due to their low birth-rate.

The captain in the pearl, but then again, she is a foreigner.

Haha, it's a good thing camera phones and video recorders don't exist in Thedas for sure. xD

See, stuff like THIS is why Arl Howe is pushing for a constitutional amendment banning gay sex.  (And not because his propositions got rejected by your father, Teyrn Bryce Cousland, back when they "rode together" against the Orlesians.)

Actually, the real history was sort of like that - especially in Greek and Roman times when it was accepted for two young warriors to have a relationship. I'm also sure that medieval nobles got away with ALOT compared to commoners.

It's a terrible thing for a Dark Ages setting... when's the last time you heard of a liberal set of accepted societal norms in the Dark Ages?

-e-

Also, what the hell does the original post of this thread mean? I don't remember any cousland or derrian in this game...

This thread is getting odd now. In a good way I guess. Though I did kinda find it a little disturbed and amused that Alistair is getting all hot and steamy for my Dwarven lass. She's a looker no doubt, but, hmnss, I wonder at times what goes behind the scene in Alistair's mind right at the point of their first night;

Alistair psyche 1: She's a dwarf damnit, looks like a... a darn child!
Alistair psyche 2: No she's not a child, she's a woman
Alistair psyche 1: Ya but she's so small and I'm so...
Alistair psyche 2: Is that what's worrying you...size?
Alistair psyche 1: No...but...you don't think the other's will think I am into ...you know...kids...
Alistair psyche 3: Uh guys...she said its about damned time...
Alistair psyche 1 and 2 : Boooyaahhh!

If you play as a male noble, go for Iona, and mention someone is waiting for you, Fergus guesses who it is, laughs and calls you a 'sly fox.' All that was missing was a high five.

If I remember right this particular conversation option happens during the initial conversation with Fergus, before Mom and Dad come into the room.  But after first conversation ends and you're "sent off to bed" you can initiate some other conversations with some of the family members before you leave the room.  Leaving the room is what kicks off the next section of the origin.

The real world WAS like that.  It was decided, however, that that just wasn't right so society changed to what we have today.

Dwarves are short, not childlike. At the least, I certainly haven't seen many children with knockers as big as my Dwarf girl has.
