Does everyone else equip the whole party with the best equipment and then sell the rest of the equipment, or just unequip the characters between missions/assignments, and then equip the characters you plan to take with you each time? The inventory in this game is a pain, as is selling items, because they aren't grouped together. So you can be scrolling (very slowly) through some assault rifles, then other stuff, then more assault rifles. I'm an Adept, so I'm probably going to stick with Garrus and Wrex for virtually all of the game. So I wonder if I should just equip them and me, and then maybe just sell all level 1 equipment, then all level 2 equipment etc.
Equip whole party or just the ones you take with you?

Yes, the inventory management leaves a bit to be desired but I don't think unequipping helps much. Each character still has to have a pistol, a sniper rifle, a shotgun, an assault rifle and armour, and some also have a bioamp or omnitool or both as well. You can't actually give them nothing until you need them and at least whatever they're equipped with doesn't count toward the 150 item limit. I reckon you may as well give all of them, even ones you don't expect to use, the best stuff you have available but just prioritise the ones you'll use most. Low rank equipment isn't worth selling IMO. Money in ME1 soon starts coming in fairly fast so it's better to convert the lowest rank gear you collect into omnigel for those times you screw up a decryption minigame. Rank I stuff only sells for like 20 credits.
Something I find that helps a bit is when I get the warning that the inventory is getting full when I can I go in and move the highest rank weapon, ammo and armour mods onto the mod slots on any spare equipment and make a mental note to go to the next merchant I can so I can take them off again and sell them. Mods don't count toward inventory when they're equipped on an item. Can help avoid being forced to turn good gear into gel. But hang onto any tungsten ammo you get at rank VI or VII as it stops appearing after a while.

Thanks for that, I'll probably just equip everyone with good stuff, and definitely turn the grade 1 stuff into omnigel
