This is driving me mad. I'm fighting Ser Cauthrien and every time I direct a party member to use a health potion about 50% of the time they ignore it. I've had to start the fight over about 5 times so far...

I only come across this if they're in the middle of an animation, or are stunned/knocked down/etc just before they take it. If that happens their last command is erased.

I'm not quite sure how that works, but I always put the potions at the top of the tactics list in case it's sequential? I also have them use the lesser pots first, and I make them use at less than 75% which gives them plenty of time to take one, and save the healer's mana.

I wonder if that really helps to put the health potion at the top of the sequence list.

if its just after killing howe, really dont worry, your supposed to lose that fight. Indeed some great moments can be seen if you do and await rescue
Although you wont break anything by beating that fight.

Me I just pause the battle and have them chug manually, a lot easier.

I think they are sequential, so if you have an attack command above the healing then they will attack until they can't attack anymore, then heal.

Yeah, I lost the first time, but the next time I isolated her from the pack and whitled her down.

I usually do that. But this is when they're ignoring the potion. It's dirving me crazy. They aren't stunned or anything. Just ignoring my command to take the potion and then subsequently dying.
This battle seems impossible and it seems like it's getting harder every time I restart the fight.

It should
Party members follow tactics from the top down. If the conditions for the tactic in the first slot are met they do it. If not it goes to the next one down and so on and so forth.

If it's the fight I think it is, they are taking so much damage that the cooldowns on the potions is too slow for them to chug enough to keep going without going manual.

Yeah, I remember the first time I fought Cauthrien, I wasn't ready for how incredibly hard she hit at all. Two of my party members were down before I could even say 'wtf?!'.

Yeah. I blinked was at the load screen. Had to do it two times more before I figured out what was going on.
