wouldn't the credits be the result?

You've got a point. Yes Credits are the result and main point in playing to get stuff, but. Credits are fixed values. Everyone gets the same amount of credits and every match just varies in a small bit. You get 70.000 credits after a gold match, but you can't really identify with them in matter what you did to earn them. The points show you what or how much you have done in the game, these are the points where you can see, that you rocked that game or did a lazy round.

I am playing for the credits yes, but I am amused when I look at the score and see that I am on the first place while I personally thought I would just fool around with my stupid loadout, or I take it as a challenge to get more out of my main build to see how much I have improved.

I mainly use score during a mission to see how hard it's going to be.

If I'm the top scorer after wave 3 or 4 on silver, it's going to be a tough mission. I need people in a team who are better than me. :)

Exact number of kills and deaths (or pin-downs) same as BF3...
This will make u more competitive!

Number of kills will just encourage people to ignore enemies that take a long time to kill.  I must admit even I'm guilty on occasion of ignoring the atlas and sniping all the mooks around it when I think I'm close to the 75 kills medal.

Even the score system doesn't prevent this entirely. With a Black Widow, three shots can kill three guardians, which is about equivalent XP to an Atlas, which takes far more than three shots to kill.

Whoever said that's a bad strategy? People tend to focus fire on big stuff and get taken down by smaller enemies that they aren't paying attention to. You killing the small things keeps the team alive. Kudos to you for being a team player.

Yes. Competition is not cooperation.

Oh and I think half the nerf threads are started by people butthurt over being outscored.

It depends on circumstance, but sometimes it's a good idea yeah. I actually tend ot focus on engineers and phantoms first. The longer engineers live, the more turrets they can place, and phantoms pre-empt everything. And if I'm playing a sniper against reapers, I consider it my primary job to take out ravagers. Against geth, I'll prioritize hunters and pyros (and occasionally rocket troopers) over the prime. Although if I'm playing FQI, I like to sabotage the geth around the prime rather than shoot them. Getting geth to kill each other is always fun.

But I do like to think I'm a team player. I always try to pay attention to target painted blue to let the adepts pull off BEs, and not to shoot the enemy that the batarian soldier is about to falcon punch (unless there's an immediate danger). I don't claim to always be successful, but I try, at least. Image IPB

I don't really mind.
It doesn't make me want to score higher or anything. To me it is there to show if all team-mates have contributed to the game.

I would like to have the manifest track the total number of matches played, won, lost, for each level.

That whould be even worse, there are players like myself out there trying new builds by soloing silver/gold, does trying a build on a solo run and fail instead of forcing others to take part in my experiments mean i am a bad player?

- Scores don't matter. Don't look at the scoreboard. This is co-op, what matters is helping one another. Only n00bs care about scores. Haha I never look.
- Ok then, let's get rid of scores.
- NOOOOOOOOOO!

Tasty hypocrisy.

We might, but at the same time, if they do, are we ready for that one guy with a microphone who is actually quite awful but insists that he is carrying the team and everyone else is actually the awful ones without a numeric value to prove that he's wrong?

That numeric value proves nothing.
