So my PC Specs first of all

Its old so dont laugh

Pentium 4 HT 3.14 GHz
1 GB Ram.
NVIDIA 9400GT GDDR3 shader model 3.0

So basically ive tried running me1 on it but its choppy..take a lot of time to load and jitters and crashes alot
So i first thought that its my old comp but weirdly the ME3 Demo i downloaded off origin works smoothly..also Crysis and Crysis Warhead work ..and so i dont think its my comp

I'd appreciate any help on the situation..
Thanks

What OS are you using? If it's Vista you def have too little RAM. Your GPU looks pretty good but otherwise you are pretty much squeaking by at minimum specs regarding RAM, and even though your CPU has a high clock speed, it's still single core - Your card is trying it's best, but it's getting bottlenecked by your CPU and low RAM. Even though other games might work well, ME1 is a kind of a resource hog and just doesn't work the same. Try running the game at the lowest settings you can to get it to work. Of course, make sure your GPU driver is the latest version and play with the Nvidia control settings for performance, app setting and/or play with ME1 config - check your sound card viability too and see if that needs to run in software mode.

I would also suggest disabling particle effects and dynamic shadows in the graphic settings and go from there.

It's not all too uncommon for other newer games to work fine while ME1 is fussy. Adding to what Soujourner said above, also keep Vsynch off and never run in windowed mode (in ME1's config).

The PC version of ME-1 was not at all well optimised compared to ME-2.  Both actually "need" a better CPU than the P4s ever were, although the beginning of ME-2 is more lenient about CPU demands than the beginning of ME-1.  You can buy a complete desktop from a metropolitan Thrift Shop with better hardware in it that that thing has, for about $100 to $125, with keyboard, mouse, speakers, CRT display, the works.

Moronic people keep deciding that laptops have more status, and get rid of perfectly good desktops in favor of new laptops that aren't actually as good for games as what they just got rid of, so the Thrift Shops have LOTS of PCs available for sale.

I would disagree a wee bit...im about 6 hours in ME2...still no lag ..stutter etc. during combat..
Ive finished the ME3 demo...no lag..stutters anything.
But Le Me1 refuses to do anything..its probably bad coding
i googled around and it seems it has a issue with newer nvidia drivers

I think i should do a clean install of it once and just patch it to 1.02 with bdts.

Newer Nvidia drivers for newer cards are especially a stinker, but you should be able to find a workable driver for a 9400GT, if not the latest driver.

Give us lots of details of everything you've done and maybe we can take it from there. Did you look for another driver for your GPU? What did you do with the ME1 configuration settings? Did you reinstall it? etc. Be as descriptive as possible because we're pretty much in the dark about what you've tried and what results you've gotten.

So what ive done till now...
--Activated it on origin and DL'd a copy if by chance my disc was corrupted..no change
--Reinstalled and tried running with Vanilla..1.01..1.02 & with and without BdTs
--My Monitor is a 1366x768..the res ME2 works on..tried 1024x768 and got desperate with 640x480 but nothing changed
--Currently trying to find a older driver for it..the latest one didnt fix anything.
--Turned off everything in the Confirugation App..

Basically it hangs stutters and crashes randomly..The farthest i got once was when we encounter husks for the first time on Eden prime..but it lagged alot still..

If anything else is needed..let me know

Have you tinkered with the 3D settings in the Nvidia control panel? If you really wanna get jiggy you could run PhysX off your GPU to take the load off your CPU and see if that gets you to a better place.

Did you try sacrificing virgins to the Entities of Animosity?

Mass Effect 1 is the most demanding of the Mass Effect games. Even with my current-gen system with an AMD Radeon HD 6870 I can't get 60 frames per second on the presidium at 1920x1080. The other two games run flawlessly.

I once ran ME1 on a Geforce 8500 GT which isn't much different from the 9400 GT. I got 20-30 frames per second on a low resolution. There's not much you can do about that other than upgrade your system.

Sacrificing virgins does not help, unfortunately. I wasted some good virgins on Mass Effect.
