Hello everyone! I've been playing the SP campaign and just started playing multiplayer.  I was hoping to get tips on how to be successful at the Silver level and start working towards Gold eventually.  To that end, I would like to get some advice on:

1) Which packs to buy? (I've already maxed out the common weapons, still working on some common mods.)
2) What classes are successful at SIlver? (I've had some success with Geth Eng, but was hoping to have some more variety.)
3) Any other thoughts?

Thanks for the help in advance!

If you have just started - play Bronze. Just to get the feel for MP and upgrade your weapons a bit.

Get all the common mods maxed before you switch to veteran packs to get all the uncommon mods.
Every class works well in silver if you work well in silver.

not everyone needs to, back when i first started i began on silver and when i moved to gold all i had was my skill, a level 1 phaeston, and a level 20 human engineer and i was able to compete. my advice is just go with your gut and find people who aren't total pricks to play with. after all.....it's just a game, have fun with it

the step from Bronze to silver is much bigger as from silver to gold, then start goging with lvl20 chars only to silver, learn to use your char, if you need powers, don't overload it with too heavy weapons etc. and then also don't give up, if you lose the first silver games, just try again it needs time to get familiar with the "very huge foe increase"

Some basic tips:

Stick with your team, that way if you get downed they can revive you.

Veteran Packs will get you upgrades on your starter weapons, plus that 5,000 cred pack. You'll get more consumables (medi-gel, rockets) if you buy the veteran though.

Like the others said, start on Bronze. Silver can be pretty rough sometimes, especially if you're just starting out.

The classes are really dependant on you. Go with what you're comfortable with. Biotics do well in pairs, rather than on their own. Infiltrators are the lone wolves. Soldiers are the easiest to use, but are generally weaker than the other classes. This is especially true with the Human Soldiers.

Overall, stay positive. Rome wasn't built in a day. You'll wipe a few times, but you can learn more from failures than successes most of the time. Also, don't take kicks personally, some people are just really picky.

Elithramir, in your case - play ability-heavy classes like adept, vanguard, engineer. Most other classes are reliant on their weapons and best weapons are Rare at least.

The most important gun quality for these classes is weight. Take one light weapon and you are ok.

The Mad Hanar , soldiers are very good. Human is a total beast with the Claymore. But they are very weapon dependant as well as infiltrators.

Find good people to play with. Also start with recruit packs until you get commons maxed then switch to veteran. All classes are viable on silver, I search these forums a lot for build ideas. And have fun! If on xbox ill play with you, add me - IFR Deathcrush

As the Mad Hanar pointed out. Utilize the buddy system. Take your time and get a feel for how your class works against enemies. Have fun.

As people have said - get used to abilities, maps and enemies on bronze before attempting silver. It's also useful to have a fair few levels under your belt before attempting silver because a levelled up character can do some real damage regardless of weaponry.

As for classes/races, it's totally dependent on preference. I personally enjoy human engineers because overload is useful against anyone, and turian soldiers for the concussive shot/proximity mine combo, but everyone's different.

Also I recommend ignoring basic packs once your commons are maxed, they'll get you very little afterwards. Well worth saving up every now and then.

Last, again as others have said, stick with your team. Splitting up is often suicidal. Also don't worry about scores - in the end everyone gets the same reward, scores are little more than ego-boosts.

If you're on PC, I'm Jellyish - if anyone's interested!

Thanks for all the replies! I am up to N7 of around 160 and have some gear already. Is there a way to link your multiplayer profile? I play on PC and my name is Orig3EYE if anyone else wants to group up.

All classes are good on silver and like 95% of the weapons are effective.

If you are learning how to play and have a geth plasma shotgun, use that until you get some experience.

Play whatever you want -- If you die a lot and nobody's reviving you then stick with a teammate. If you are close to him then he will do the revive.

Play more, gain more situational awareness, always look at your back, and have a fallback. Know when to hold, and when to retreat. Know which enemies to focus, and which to ignore. Basically, play with more tactics.
