because there are no more organics. no organics exist. everything is synthetic.

Except they're not, they're a hybrid. Part synthetic, part organic. The question is, why would that stop these hybrids from being killed by synthetics? What stops these hybrids from later creating another synthetic species like the Geth, which in turn will kill the hybrids?

I believe now the materials used to create AIs are also partly organic.

But these are just speculations.

Conflict most often begins because of differences. Differences of opinion, belief, appearance, all lead to prejudice, to hate, and then to violence. Anybody whose taken a history class would know that.

I believe that the Star Child thinks when the synergy is created the intelligence and understanding of each race will be heightened. Making them realize they aren't different and thus not have any reason to war with each other.

Diversity is the cause of chaos, so making everyone the same will impose order.

Great, actually.

But still speculations. :)

Fascism is disgusting.

Because that's what you're proposing.

No more blue eyes, no more LGBT community, no more art, no more unique personalities.

Do you have ANY idea what you're dealing with here? ANY idea?

Except Synthesis in no way claims or implies that all life will suddenly turn into hippies. Will the Krogran really change? Will the Chechens really change? Synthesis doesn't change idealogy or opinion, it only changes physicial nature, something that Earth alone proves is irrelevent. Look at any civil war.

War isn't also started because people are different. The Krogran Rebellions started because they needed more territory to sustain their insane breeding rate.

And in the future idealogies and opinions will still be different. They will still change as environments and technology and the whole shebang changes. You cannot tell me that Synthesis turns the entire galaxy into an identical, thought sharing, communist utopia.

OP, I have been trying to put this point across to pro-synthesis supporters from the start. I completely agree - it is ridiculous and doesn't work. I haven't seen a decent counter-argument at all.

100% agree.

DO YOU REALIZE THAT ONE OF THE BASE FUNCTIONS IN A FASCIST SYSTEM IS THE ELIMINATION OF CULTURAL PLURALISM AND MULTICULTURALISM?

DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEA WHAT YOU'RE TALKING ABOUT?

The end of chaos is the end of existence. Everything from that point on is predictable. If you can predict the future, it might as well not exist.

I guess...:o

Or you could argue that because entropy always increases with time imposing order through synthesis is only a temporary solution.

In any case, Synthesis is a choice. Just like destroying or controlling the Reapers.

The player can choose what they prefer. Hating a choice just because its on the table in a game where choice is everything is absurd. If you don't like it, just don't choose it.

Your version of Synthesis is fascist.

Don't be surprised when people jump all over you for it.

I don't hate it because it's a choice.

I hate it because it destroys everything ME/Shepard stands for and because it is blight on the otherwise fantastic lore of the MEverse.

Also because it is ridiculously unethical - that's a perfectly valid reason to hate it.

Apparently there's a mechanism to prevent the cessation of existence. Damn, I'll never get out of here.

Yup. Existence will never end through the complete removal of chaos because that requires infinite energy.

2nd law of thermodynamics.

Also helps to point out that synthesis isn't the only truly permanent solution as some people claim - because it isn't permanent at all.

Well technically the Reapers are synthetic and organic if that means anything (which it probably doesn't).

We impose order on the chaos of organic evolution. You exist because we allow it, and you will end because we demand it. -Sovereign

Yep, sounds like something the  Catalyst would advocate

And because it's supposed to be the "optimal" ending

It's a flawed concept that would not have been in the game had the persons in charge actually spent a minute or two thinking about it.

Which is... Yeah.

So it's a solution that doesn't work to a problem that doesn't exist (at least not to my Shepard)

Everyone talking about Entropy... That's the second law of thermodynamics. THERMODYNAMICS. Not reality, or human behavior, or order vs chaos. The law states that entropy will increase in any closed thermodynamic system, not that all order naturally devolves into chaos. Don't mix physics and philosophy.

well i think it will be because they will no longer be just organics, they will be a hybrid between organic/synthetic. so they would no longer kill organics just organic/synthetic hybrids
