A bunch of griffins showed up, bundled the horses up into cloaks which they tied up with bowstrings, and flew them away to a far land where they spitted them on spears and roasted them, pausing only to gnaw on a couple of old scabbards that they'd brought along for the purpose, thus ensuring that their teeth would stay nice and white.
Hmm... If you could shoehorn a comment about the game being too easy, then it'd be perfect.

I myself and the members of my party rode across Ferelden several times while traveling to different locations. Except Shale.
Seriously though, this isn't Ocarina of Time or Shadow of Colossus. It would have been nice to have horses in Camp, just for show, but I don't really find it that important.

I know the good folks at Bioware mention gryphons that were once used by the Grey Wardens have become extinct but there is no explanation for the absence of horses. Where are they?
Are horses buried in the great dark beyond next to Jimmy Hoffa and multiplayer?

Gryphon's food of choice = Horses
Food supply ran out, Gryphon's died off.

D. Gaider ventured on to one of the previous threads about including horses. In a nutshell, they decided not to include horses because they didn't want to devote resources to something that wasn't really going to be a major part of the story. Creating all the horse models and models for people on the horses would have used resources that they wanted to allocate elsewhere. I hope that I haven't overly simplified his explanation.
Silly answer. Why can't you give a serious response like the rest of the thread?

Already tried, Macon. If the OP was REALLY interested in an answer, he would have used the search function anyway.

People!
We are talking about a small company with what, THREE employees, who can barely scrape together the game engine as is, working out of a cardboard box in the backalley for minimal wage and having minimal sales, how can you in your right minds expect them to actually pay attention to details, and implement such things as HORSES and CLOAKS and SCABBARDS and the damn BOWSTRINGS, which require so much work in animation department that it would take twenty-four supercomputers three hundred years just to compute the physics for a single cloak?
I mean, it's not like it's some bloody large company with the backing of one of the largest publishers on the planet, huge budget, immense income from sales for PC, PS3, XBOX 360, various DLCs and assorted merchandise, and having a massive retailer and marketing network.
Oh, wait...
