I dont know if this has been mentioned, but I would like to ask Bioware not to use that style that they used in DA2. It is completely different to DAO, and felt like another franchise. The watered down anime-like artwork shouldnt exist at all in DA3 imo, there should be more of a darker realistic look to the world like DAO and DAA.

The only thing wrong with the atmosphere in DA2 was that the city was empty of clutter.
If anything the environments could be made smaller and tighter to create a much more realistic look. Although the video game needs larger environments for the player to move around in; although this isn't an MMO so the environments don't need to fit a large amount of people inside them.
Also how did you get a Japanese influence from the atmosphere in DA2? It doesn't look Japanese at all... >.>

^ DA2 is a JRPG at heart.
Armor with jagged, unnecessary pointy bits? Check.
Ridiculously oversized weapons? Check.
Spin kicking bottles instead of throwing them? Check.
"Chainmail bikinis" / fanservice? Check.
Abnormally clean cities? Check.
Enemies exploding into meat-paste? Check.
It all kind of seems JRPG-ish to me. That isn't inherently bad, but I can certainly see the influence.

Chir, there is just something off about the DA2 artwork. It is less serious and more kiddy, if you know what I mean. Like look at this...

I am not an artist so I cant explain the different art styles, but these two are completely different. There is less detail and grime and more jagged edges and anime crap like the poster above said.

DA2 probably would have looked better if it actually did look like a modern JRPG, which has just become a codeword for "any style I don't like." Not to say anyone is wrong for disliking DA2's style, but it has little if anything to do with JRPGs.

The background environments where also very dull, which really stands out when you visit the same places over and over again.

Where are the Chainmail Bikinis in Dragon Age 2, I mean, Aveline is in full on bulky armor and didn't DAO have big weapons as well. Oh and the armour with a jagged edge thing, DAO had plenty of that. By fanservice I assume you mean Isabella, well then what was morrigan?, and anyone who wore the chasind robes. By all accounts DAO had much more fanservice than DA2.

I don't know about that, I felt each location had a specific feel to it, and as a whole, the settings were much more colorful. Even with repedative maps, I felt this was true.
