OP/TC...i think are being overly dramatic.

free is free.
even if the stuff that is free is unlockable..you dont need to PAY for any of it with money..just time.

using actual money to purchase stuff is optional

lawsuit? not bloody likely

You know, I've lost a lot of faith in BioWare with ME3 (and gained some, too [Tuchanka storyline was amazing]), but I'm giving them more than enough chances to make up for it and I'm not going to call them names or take legal action over petty things like this.

I can honestly say I'm losing even more faith in the fans. Some people on these forums...

You might want to go to a doctor and get yourself checked. I heard stupidity is contageous. o.o The OP may have passed it on to us.

edit: to clarify, that wasn't a strike against u. just to let u know, before we have a jerry springer moment. :D

I agree. There is no such thing as "free" in the multiplayer.Characters, weapons and armor should be instantly accessible and not buyable.

No I don't want to ****ing play another 10 hours just trying to get the new characters or the new weapons.

Personally I quitted the multiplayer until after they've allowed free upgrades and characters.

"Bait-and-switch is a form of fraud, most commonly used in retail sales but also applicable to other contexts. First, customers are "baited" by advertising for a product or service at a low price; second, the customers discover that the advertised good is not available and are "switched" to a costlier product"

They advertised a free dlc pack that included 2 maps, 6 characters, 3 weapons, new gear items, 1 game mode. What we got was 2 maps and 1 game mode with the chance to unlock 6 new characters, 3 new weapons, and gear items with money or in-game currency. Free characters/weapons/gear are the bait, spectre packs are the switch.

This is the only correct responce.

And I thought the "retake mass effect" people were being ridiculous.

I think Bioware may just have terrible fans.

There will be cup cakes for everyone and a youtube symposium with multiple theories.
That or preorder cancelled.

This is one of the most stupid concepts I've seen here yet. This would get thrown out of court so quickly it isn't even funny. First of all, even if it was not a free dlc the case would still have no merit. The fact it was free makes the whole already delusional case ten times more so. You can't have a bait and switch with something that's free. The concept is just asinine.

Bioware, attracting the worst fans in the industry since 1998.

They should totally make that a sign and hang it over the entrance of the Edmonton Studios.

Incorrect! It wouldn't even make it to court. Likely the person going to see a lawyer about this would get thrown out of the office before coffee was served.

Of all the things to sue over, this has got to be the silliest thing I've heard. They aren't forcing you to use real money to obtain the new items and, last time I checked, earning in-game credits is not that hard to do.

To be honest this is comparable to a kid who doesn't want to earn a sweet treat =/

Since the DLC was free and you can unlock all the virtual- goods by spending imaginary in-game credits, you'll have to file the claim in fantasy-court.

And what 'damages' would you sue for even if this weren't a stupid and idiotic concept?

When you sue someone for fraud, you are entitled to be made whole. You spent...

Nothing.

Therefore, even if you should take the time to find a jackass of a lawyer who is moronic enough to take this case, the only thing you could sue for is...

Nothing.

Way to ****** them off and prevent them from releasing free DLC for everyone. One thing in common about such frivolous lawsuits: Considerable payout for the party involved, more strict regulations and consequences that harm everyone else (Woman sued McDonalds because she spilled hot coffee on herself, McDonald's no longer has hot coffee. Loose example).

FYI, that woman suffered 3rd degree burns from said coffee and required skin grafts. That's more than just "hot."

True but it was also partly her fault. She put it in between her legs while driving and crushed the container to obvious results. The threshold for 3rd degree burns is not too high and 130 degrees will do it if you have a lengthy exposure which happened when it soaked into her clothing.

As to the topic it would be a waste of eveyone's time and there is no payout waiting for you.  They defrauded no one as they did not charge a cent for the DLC. People are not forced to buy anything and have no injury to claim.

It's players like you that are endemic as one of the "starbucks" generation, demanding instant gratification while shunning real effort. And hey, if someone gives you a product for free, then giving you a choice of whether you decide to work for the prize or simply leave it be... I guess it's only rational to start thinking about a lawsuit against the right SOB's that are being so horrendously unfair to your mental well-being that they request that you put some work in order to enjoy the free product they put time and money into.

Just in case this is actually serious:

If you bought your copy of ME3 new, you get the DLC for free (if you didn't buy it new, that's on you for being cheap; if you did and didn't get a code for the Online Pass, that's between you and your retailer).  You get the ability to acquire (unlock) those character options.  Nowhere does it say you get them just for downloading and installing the pack.  You aren't obligated to spend a penny more on multiplayer content than the cost of the game itself (including the Online Pass, if you bought used).  The option to spend real money is simply that: an option.  In closing, this aptly sums up my reaction to the OP:
