"Bait-and-switch is a form of fraud, most commonly used in retail sales but also applicable to other contexts. First, customers are "baited" by advertising for a product or service at a low price; second, the customers discover that the advertised good is not available and are "switched" to a costlier product"

They advertised a free dlc pack that included 2 maps, 6 characters, 3 weapons, new gear items, 1 game mode. What we got was 2 maps and 1 game mode with the chance to unlock 6 new characters, 3 new weapons, and gear items with money or in-game currency. Free characters/weapons/gear are the bait, spectre packs are the switch.

you posting info on a law suit is against the law

lol What?????? This isn't Law & Order. Even if you're joking, it's not needed.

Don't practice law my friend.

FYI, Risk Management always reviews everything that goes out. You have no case and if you did attempt to launch a lawsuit, and you were a lawyer, you may risk being disbarred for malpractice.

What's the old saying about if you give away free ice cream, there will always be people who complain about a flavor being unavailable or no sprinkles?

I'm not reading this whole thread, it is a waste of time, and I'm also waiting for ABRAM SMASH. Now on the off chance that you're serious I'll point out that for any lawsuit you must have damages. Your damages here are zero, so even if you were allowed(you won't be) to make this case and won(you won't) you would win nothing.

They made very clear in the announcement that the chars and weapons come in the pack, as you can see in Bioware blog. Plus, unless you are trying to make easy money, how childish you must be to sue them for that?

This thread is foolish, I would call you a name starting with an I, since you have proved that is what you are, but Biomods would get mad, and I would get Smashed or something.

You have to play the game to unlock good weapons and characters? Just like COD, GOW, Halo, etc.?!?!?!!?!
What a freaking disaster.
You should complain more about the free DLC that they gave us so they don't give them to us anymore.
Pleeease complain more.

Wow. Good job OP. You got nearly the entire forum to agree on something. This has got to be some sort of first.

I think the world is comming to an end here very soon. This forum has been in almost universal agreement at least twice today (this and matchmaking).

Well, it's not a fair comparison, unlocking a gun in CoD is a lot easier and the dangling carrot on a stick is much better, as you KNOW you will get it eventually, and you dont have to randomly hope to get upgrades either, you just use it. But yeah, the free DLC is awesome, but it does suck that i dont get to play some of it.

In grad school, a friend of mine was assigned to teach a discussion section in a freshting philosophy class.  Knowing that this would involve a section on Aristotle's Niccomachean Ethics in the spring, he planned ahead.  He bought the cheapest vanilla ice cream (in the big bucket) he could get and stashed it in the back of the department freezer for a while so it got rock hard, and he bought the most brittle plastic spoons he could fine.  So on one fateful warm spring day, the discussion on Niccomachean Ethics was due so he scheduled a quiz on that day in advance, but when he showed up he said:

"You know, it's a nice day outside I don't want to grade this quiz anyway so I'll just give you all 10/10s, and Aristotle is boring as ****, let's just go outside, hang out under a tree, and enjoy the weather"

So they went out and sat under a tree, and alerted the students to the fact that he brought ice cream, and handed out cups and spoons, allowing students to scoop out their own ice cream.

Invariably a whole host of predictable complaints arose along the lines of "the ice cream is cheap" , "the ice cream is boring", the "ice cream is hard", the "my spoon keeps breaking", etc.

So he turned to his class and said "Aristotle's argument is that the greatest good in life is to pursue true happiness, but look at all of you: you're outside instead of in class, it's a beautiful day, you don't have to take that quiz that was scheduled, and you're eating free ice cream... and yet you're complaining.  None of you will ever be truly happy."

And then he left.

OP is the worst type of person. Absolutely no gratitude for a free dlc that Bioware worked hundreds of hours on. Grow up a little

my reasoning is if you don't like the game return it and move on. why would u want to make a law suit against a company that makes games. that just wierd

I love all the comments about how a lawsuit like this is ridiculous and would not be viable. Everyone making these comments is the reason why trolling on the internet was invented. No. I did not threaten to sue, say I was suing, or think it would be a good idea to sue. Looks like I will have to explain myself because everyone takes things literally on the net.

I had a goal in mind when making this thread. My motivation is that I don't like the random unlock system. I want to play the new dlc characters and have put much time and effort into unlocking them, but have been unlucky so far. I have no problem with having to work to unlock something. The problem is that with the current system, you are forced to gamble with the proceeds of your hard work. So you can either get lucky or see your time and effort go down the drain.

So, I wanted to make a point with this thread. A good way to make a point is to exaggerate or be extreme. I want Bioware to see this thread and realize people are unhappy and they need to do something. I also wanted to get a thread that would get a lot of hits and stay near the top. Being controversial is a good way to do this. It looks like I have succeeded in this. Thank you.

There are people accusing me of not being grateful for free dlc. First of all, I would be grateful if I could, you know, actually play it. Secondly, I am not fortunate/unfortunate enough to be so ignorant as to not be able to see through EA's motive behind releasing the dlc this way. It's diabolical, really. 1) They get player good will from being able to say they released free dlc. 2) They get to keep players interested that are starting to leave me3 multiplayer. 3) They get to make probably even more money than if it wasn't free from people buying packs. Whether it is people who have a lot of money so that they don't care about how much they spend to unlock stuff or people that get tired of farming and cave in to buying a pack because they get impatient or even taking advantage of younger players who nag their parents for a points card and their parents buy them it without knowing the nature of the unlock system.

Think about the new gear system. It's ok, but it seems a little out of place. What was the motivation for it? Why do most of them do the same thing as consumable equipment? I bet the idea for the gear system first started from the need for more cards to be added to the system and then someone came up with the gear system. And now we have 90 new cards added for people to buy. It wouldn't surprise me to see more stuff like this.

Why hasn't repeating character cards been removed after all the complaining about them? Why couldn't the dlc have released with the characters unlocked? What is the argument? That is only 6 cards. The only reason for them not to release them unlocked is that they want people to buy packs.

Take into account casual players. Are they just screwed as far as unlocks go? How is someone that is only able to play 5-10 hours a week suppose to unlock enough to enjoy the game? They will be playing bronze/silver because of low quality weapons so they will get less credits. Are they expected to play for several months and still not be able to unlock what they want?

A company trying to make money is not a bad thing. Doing it in a dishonest way is. RNG is dishonest. Take the example of the kid that has their parents buy a points card because he seen someone with the new vorcha and he wants to play that character. So he gets the points card by telling his parents that he can play as a new cool character. He buys 6 psps and 1 spectre pack and doesn't unlock it. This scenario, which I am sure does occur, is not cool.

I'm sure the big corporate EA appreciates all of you defenders whenever they get attacked by a little guy. Good job. I would call you a name, but that's against policy even though many of you have done so to me. So, I'll just close by saying I'd rather spend my time playing a video game called Lemmings, but soon i will have to count sheep to help me fall asleep.
