Then, Bioware can hire me! Image IPB

I made the stuff above and it worked really well. I`ve played more that 4 hours without one single DC.

I found that when we are configuring our internet connection on PS3, usually people chose AUTOMATIC in the option MTU.

Here a step-by-step of what you guys can try to do in order to solve those DC issues:

First things first.

ON YOUR PC:

1) Assuming that you are running a Windows system, go to EXECUTE and type CMD - press enter;
2) A DOS command window will open. type:  tracert -d www.google.com (or any other site you think you should use here);

3) Something like this will show on your screen:

1 <1 ms <1 ms <1 ms 192.168.1.1
2 5 ms 6 ms 5 ms 10.10.5.1
3 9 ms 9 ms 8 ms 10.10.4.1
4 12 ms 17 ms 11 ms 192.168.70.11
5 12 ms 12 ms 11 ms 200.157.101.8*<= NOTICE THAT AT ONE POINT YOUR FIRST IP "GROUP" WILL CHANGE. IN MY CASE, IT CHANGED FROM "192" TO "200".

WRITE DOWN THIS NUMBER (IN MY CASE, 200.157.101.8)

4) Now, still in DOS, type:
ping -f -l 1500 200.157.101.8   (the command + the IP you got).

This value before the IP, "1500", is the default PS3 value and, in most cases, it will mess things up, cause your ps3 will lose data during data transfer.

You`ll probably get some error message, like data loss, or something.

Heres the trick: take this 1500 number and start decreasing it. eventually it will start to have success. Now find the better "ping" while changing that original 1500 number. In my case, I changed it to 1400 and got a 20ms ping.

5) now, back on ps3, go to configurations > internet/network  configuration and start working.

You must chose the "manual"option and pass through all options without changing anything (remember, you wanna chage the MTU setting, not what is already configured).. Now that you found the MTU option, change it to manual and insert the best value you got on the previous step.

After doing that, I got no more DCs. Maybe that was a coincidence, maybe that is the solution we were looking for.

Let me know if doing that worked for you guys too!

--> and sorry for my poor english skills. Image IPB

is there a cap on how low of a number you can go?

I have connection problems every match I join, I either lag to much or disconnect so I always have to host games (which a lot of people lose connection in).
I assumed it was because I'm using wireless (can you make a wired connection from a wireless modem?)

I'd attempt to do this, but as I lack just about any knowledge when it comes to hardware and the like, I'm confused with even the first step.
EXECUTE? I don't get it, sorry.

Basically go to RUN, most likely in your accessories tab of your all programs.  They bring up the same thing.  My comp doesn't have an execute function so it might be something that a windows operating system has in other countries.

Thanks for the advice. It seems to have made things run a bit smoother. I got this advice from another source a while back, but had forgot to change the numbers on my new ps3.

I'm sorry but I'm really confused about the first IP group, what constitutes a change? didn't it change from 192 to 10 earlier? what is the importance of the number that he marked? If someone could clear this up please...

The other IPs are from the route your connection follows to get to that IP and back, hence why it's called routing.

The other number, 1500, is the MTU, or Maximum Transmission Unit, which is the amount of information in bytes that gets sent each time your network equipment, be it your PS3's network card, your PC's network card, your router, phone, w/e, sends a portion of data, whatever the type of data may be.

Reducing the size of the MTU a bit can some times help when the network cannot handle as much data sent at each given moment.

Do be careful though, as going overboard can slow down your connection.

I'm pretty sure I got things right until here:

01 32ms 99ms 99ms 10.0.0.138
02 24ms 23ms 23ms 172.18.113.165
03 23ms 23ms 24ms 172.18.77.18
04 23ms 22ms 23ms 61.9.135.7
05 23ms 23ms 24ms 203.45.29.121
06 24ms 26ms 27ms 203.50.106.2
07 39ms 38ms 39ms 203.50.11.22
08 51ms 51ms 51ms 203.50.11.12
09 52ms 59ms 59ms 203.50.6.146
10 105ms 51ms 49ms 72.14,198.54
11 50ms 49ms 49ms 66.249.95.224
12 50ms 50ms 50ms 72.14.237.47
13 50ms 49ms 49ms 74.125.237.19

Nothing changed and I did it a few times, I didn't do anything further as I'd probably blow up my computer xD

Also, on the topic of Internets, mine has slown down A LOT ever since I downloaded Diablo III. It was half downloaded and I was able to play whilst it continued, after about 4-5 hours I got bored of it and when I tried to watch Youtube or go to any website it would barely load (takes about 10 minutes to load a 2 minute video).
Well, I blamed DIII for this so I deleted it before it could finish downloading and my Internets still very slow. I can't find anything to help, I'm sure I didn't go over the monthly GB amount (we have unlimited, but it slows down after like 100GB or more, and it's only near the start of this month).
I'd appreciate any help, as there seems to be a few tech-smart people here.

Veil I know it sounds patronising, but have you tried resetting your router? You'd be surprised how much this can help.

This thread should be stickied for PS3 users

Changing the MTU setting to 1458 and it gave me a Nat Type 2 prompt (router unable to process IP fragments).
I reverted it back to 1500 and Nat Type 2 changed to normal Nat Type 2.

Resetting the router doesn't resolve the random disconnections on one of last 3 waves of a match.

If this was a connection issue I should be disconnecting on other waves - but that never happens - It always happens on wave 9, 10, or 11 (including moments before extraction).

No problems on other MP matches AC/UC

First just want to say its great that you are trying to help people so good job.

BUT

Never is it or should it be the consumers job to make a video game work outside of putting a disk in and waiting for the startup menu. It is not our job to make or do more work to make games work. EVER!

Gamers who have to do anything outside of putting the game in the console to play them is absolutely UNACCEPTABLE period.

Also, it looks like my prediction as of reading a lot of posts lately has happened. Now we are going to need a patch to fix the patches f'n patch lol.

Again thank you for trying to help OP but that is how I feel. Im ashamed of the gaming industry today. I really am.

Net configuration is not something Bioware can do for you, if anyone other then yourself is responsible it would be the company that provides your internet service. Add to that, unless they are completely worthless company they offer 24 hour tech support and can help you to do this very process. Blaming Bioware for something that's completely out of their hands makes no sense.

For me this worked like a charm. I wasn't getting disconnected before that much, maybe once a day if I played for a longer period of time, but so far I've put in about five hours a day since I did this and haven't had a single disconnect while in a match. I've had one while starting a match but it didn't disconnect me from the server only while trying to join a match, before even getting in. Don't think that was a disconnect issue, more like an issue where more then four people were put in the match so it automatically boots the last person and gives the error.

Well this has to be a server issue - as today I've had minimal problems.

Played a dozen or so matches - 4 disconnects (8, 10, 10, and after extraction (just before the results screen) and 2 purchase freezes (required restart of game(quit to XMB))).

Sometimes it wouldn't find a game so a game restart (quit to XMB) was required.

I was playing from 3pm until 10pm UK time.

I'm just really disappointed. I have been let down by Bioware on numerous occasions. Surely they must care about Brand loyalty? It's a real shame. I've been trying to connect to multiplayer for god knows how long. I think I'd rather just move to a different game and I probably will if the connection issues aren't sorted out this weekend.

i have never had a single disconnect on mass effect, an rarely dc on other ea games, the solution i found was to go into the router settings an turn off upnp, an voilà NO MORE DISCONNECTS!! i used to have the dc problem in bad company 2 on ps3, an when i turned off upnp which is your routas way of auto port forwarding for u, anyway after turning it off the problem was gone, if turning it off at y9ur routa is too hard ofr you just go to the ps3 network setting an turn upnp off on the ps3, an that too works that way your router can still use upnp for other devices on your network that need it, but important note is that if you turn upnp off on your router you got to remember to turn it off on your ps3 under network settings too, or like i said just leave it on, on your routa but turn it off on ps3! as a rule of thumb turn off upnp whenever you play any ea games, most ea games online will boot u an u will get disconnects unless you turn off upnp, but games like cod usually prefer you to have upnp turned on! LOL

UPNP is enabled on the PS3 and on the router too.

I was playing ME3MP on the 360 today and it was a totally different experience to playing ME3MP on the PS3.
Regularly I get connection loss, purchase pack freezes etc. on the PS3 but on the 360 it was a lot more smoother and reliable. Quite fast too (no issues whatsoever).

The UPNP is enabled on the 360 aswell, so it's baffling why it should be turned off on the PS3.

Image IPB

And if I turn off UPNP on the PS3 it will change the NAT to Type 3 but I'll give it a try.

Update: Pack purchases still result in connection loss and I had one connection loss during a match after not even an hour of playing following the above suggestion.

I've exhausted all other possibilities:
Reinstalled the game data, used static ip, added the ME3 ports to my router, disabled UPNP.

Earlier today I redeemed the 2 day xbox live code (that came with ME3) to try the Earth DLC and I didn't have to do any of the above on that console (which is not my preferred console).

Once again I'm inclined to believe that Bioware or/and EA have no clue how to fix the wide reported problems associated with ME3 MP on the PS3.

So I guess I'm resigned to the fact to just grin and bear it, and put up with lost credits/XP, lost ammo, weapon and armor equips.

Oh well................................................................................
