In single player, I had just popped the Atlas that was at the end of the Gellix mission (with Jacob), which I killed using a pistol loaded with the penetration mod. Down the stairs comes the engie I presume was attending it. I shoot him a few times, and... his backpack-stowed turret explodes?
Do shots penetrate through targets as well as cover? That's the only explanation I can think of why his backpack turret popped.
