Indeed. Do people really think that any game company would send out a list of its surprise announcements to websites ahead of time?

I agree. It is too early to say anything about Dragon Age III.

I don't see what the problem is announcing the developement of Dragon Age III. Origins was announced in 2005, if I'm not mistaken, and it didn't come out until 2009.

Nope, there is no way they would know about it before hand.

Once again, a large period of time has elapsed -- we're technically one month away from when DA2 was released relative to Origins. I don't think anyone is clamoring for gameplay footage or specific promises, but an official announcement confirming the title and some concept art might be nice to get things going.

The problem with announcing it, is that it puts pressure on them. Not just from the fans, but from their bosses in EA, and from EA's bosses...the stockholders. Saying that there is a new game in the pipeline, will always make the bosses try to speed things up. The longer they can hold off saying when the game will be released, or even that they have officially started working on it, the more time they will have to do it right. Plus, by keeping quiet about DA3, gives some of their other games a chance to shine a bit, without the shadow of the next DA looming over them.

:P Yes.

But, I don't really see what BioWare could announce that is DA related, given that there's no more DLC for DA2 incoming. Actually, I'm really interested to see what the marketing for DA3 (or whatever it is called) will look like, this time around.

(Also, on the "how early is too early to announce" thing, I was trying to read up about the closure of 38 studios at the weekend and some commentators suggesting that they might have benefitted from much more, and earlier, marketing. If "Project Copernicus" has been in development since 2006, why doesn't it even have a proper name, for example? But, I know nothing about marketing.)

It looks like Bioware showed up just to remind everyone that they put out Star Wars Old Republic six months ago. You could hear crickets in the audience after the Star Wars theme was played.

Oooo video! Thanks!

*Edit* Wait a second, how did Ellie from Dead Space 2 grow a new eye? That mad guy gouged it out didn't he? Is it even possible to grow a new one with future technology?

... Hm, I guess it must be.

Also, who's that old bloke introducing it? Is he the head of EA or something?

Watch Dogs looked great. I want that DA3 will make as good and strong first impression as that game did.

Omg that looks absolutely amazing! I think it's probably a next generation game, it looks to... detailed and epic to be on the current gen consoles.

You see, a press conference is where a company goes to make those surprise announcements. They don't give away the surprise to a bunch of websites ahead of time. Otherwise, it wouldn't really be a surprise, now would it?

Ray came out on stage and talked some TOR - that was that. I honestly didn't expect much else in the first place. As a result, I have no reason to believe DA3 will suddenly show up in the remaining two days, but we can hope...
